Pushpavalli Season 1 Episode 5 Recap: Bitch is Back

In the fifth episode, Pushpavalli receives a special package from her mother in the library.

Pushpavalli Season 1 Episode 5 Recap: Bitch is Back

It is strange how our two main characters, Pushpavalli and Nikhil have so much free time to spend together in the Food Expo and play ‘name-place-animal-thing’. It is clear that this was the moment the two bonded well and Pushpavalli became smitten with him. Then followed him to Bangalore and is now officially his stalker.

At the house, one of the girls called Pearl rants to the others that her boyfriend did not commit to their relationship when asked in a standup comedy show by the comedian. She is very upset and angry. She feels she has wasted her time for the past 8 months with him. Meanwhile, Pushpavalli can’t stop singing songs about the previous day at the Guruji’s where she bumped into Nikhil. She feels it’s a sign for her to continue chasing him and is really happy about it.

While listening to Pearl’s rant, Pushpavalli thinks of going for the standup show with Nikhil. She anticipates that the comedian will ask her and Nikhil about their relationship status as well. This way she would be able to know what Nikhil thinks about her. So she asks Tara and Srishti to arrange tickets for them. Tara and Srishti agree to arrange tickets provided Pushpavalli sits in the front row and makes a video for them in return. I assume they want a video of the performance.

Then we see Pushpavalli guiding kids at the library to make Parfait. Pankaj tells her that her mom called at the office landline.

Pushpavalli receives a message from Tara that tickets for the comedy show have been booked for tonight.

Pushpavalli then goes out and calls Nikhil. She apologises to him for ditching him the previous night. In order to make up for that, she invites him for the comedy show. Nikhil however is not free so he denies politely. But Pushpavalli knows how to turn things in her favour. She tells Nikhil that it’s her birthday. Nikhil obviously doesn’t want her to spend her birthday alone so he agrees to come.

After the call, Pushpavalli goes in to find her apparent fiance waiting to meet her. The guy from the USA, who her mom really liked, has landed in the library. He tells her that he arrived from New Orleans the same day itself and came to see her before his jet lag kicked in. He also mentions engagement plans and marriage, which he’d like to happen soon. Pushpavalli is totally unaware of everything. She asks for two minutes and goes to lash out at her mom on the phone for sending Sangameshwaran directly to her workplace. Pushpavalli doesn’t approve of her marriage with him and declares it before her mother is able to question it.

Meanwhile, Sangameshwaran completely zones out sitting in the library and his face turns into a point of attraction for the kids. Pankaj asks Pushpavalli to get him out quickly.

Pushpavalli goes and tells Sangameshwaran that she’ll catch up with him over the week and asks him to leave the library. Sangameshwaran is quite clingy. He offers to go on a romantic date and a candlelight dinner with Pushpavalli the same night. I wonder where these guys get the confidence to have such high expectations...that too for a first meeting. Pushpavalli, however, refuses and asks him to leave.

Nikhil and Pushpavalli arrive at the venue of the show. Tara and Srishti had asked Pushpavalli to sit in the first row for the comedian to notice her. But as Nikhil and she are about to sit in the first row, the only available seats are occupied by two women. So with no choice left, Pushpavalli and Nikhil sit in the fourth row.

Pushpavalli texts Tara informing her about the change in her seating and the colour she’s wearing. Then Tara and Srishti call Valencio, the comedian for whose show Nikhil and Pushpavalli have gone. The two sly girls, Tara and Srishti, entice Valencio with the promise of a threesome and convince him to interact with Pushpavalli and Nikhil.

Valencio begins with crowd interaction in the first row and then moves on to the fourth. Tara had told Valencio to interact with the girl in blue and the guy next to her in the fourth row. However, it turns out that the girl sitting next to Nikhil on the other of side is also wearing blue. Valencio notices the other girl in blue and not Pushpavalli. He pairs Nikhil with the other girl and starts to shoot his relationship questions to them.

After multiple refusals, Valencio doesn’t realise that Nikhil and the girl don’t even know each other. Pushpavalli cuts in to say that they both are not together. Valencio doesn’t pay attention to her and rather insults her. He goes on to ship Nikhil and the other girl. Pushpavalli tries to point out that she and Nikhil have come together. They are the ones Valencio needs to interact with as told by Tara and Srishti. But Valencio, probably due to his pre-formed notion of Pushpavalli, repeatedly insults her. I would have definitely called out this comedian if I was a part of that show.

Nikhil intervenes and asks Valencio to chill as it’s Pushpavalli’s birthday. Valencio still doesn’t calm down and tries to justify his reaction. However, he chucks it and tries to continue with his set but all his jokes bomb.

As Nikhil and Pushpavalli leave after the show, Sangameshwaran pats Pushpavalli from behind. This guy is here now. I wonder why everyone turns a stalker at some point in this show.

Sangameshwaran objects to Pushpavalli coming for a show with an unknown man. How can she leave her fiance and go with someone else, he asks? Nikhil asks Pushpavalli if this person is actually her fiance. Pushpavalli denies this and tells Nikhil that this person is probably stalking her. Well, Pushpavalli is creating a huge mess for herself.
