Pushpavalli Season 2 Episode 7 Recap: Gayi Behen

By the end of episode 7, I found myself pitying over the mess Pushpavalli has created for herself.

Pushpavalli Season 2 Episode 7 Recap: Gayi Behen

The seventh episode of Pushpavalli begins with Pankaj trying to convince Pushpavalli’s mother that Vidyut is not the right person for Pushpavalli. Her mother however is bullheaded and not ready to understand Pankaj’s stance. Pankaj cuts the call in annoyance.

Pushpavalli goes to the tea stall. The tea-boy intimates her that he has arranged the zinc powder and also cut the CCTV camera of the packhouse for the next day. He seems very excited to ruin the consignment of Nikhil but Pushpavalli is irritable. She reprimands the tea-boy for calling her to the tea stall just to convey this petty information which he could have easily done on a call.

Nikhil calls Pushpavalli and asks about her PG. He urgently wishes to meet her as there is a problem at his end. Pushpavalli obviously doesn’t want him at the PG so instead she goes to his packhouse. Pushpavalli waits at the packhouse for some good 10 minutes and then Nikhil arrives. Turns out there was no problem, Nikhil wanted to apologise to Pushpavalli for overreacting the other day. Pushpavalli forgives him and helps him sort okra for the consignment.

Meanwhile, a drunk Vidyut reaches Pushpavalli’s PG with a friend to meet her and asks why she cannot marry in a month’s time. Why was she so shocked to hear that? He rings the bell. A grumpy Vasu appears. Vidyut asks her to call “Valli”, a pet name he lovingly calls Pushpavalli. Vasu refutes him and tells him that there is no Valli in this PG. However Vidyut is adamant. He also shows Vasu Pushpavalli’s bag which she had left at Vidyut’s place. Vasu goes in and brings a hockey stick to shoo Vidyut away.

Meanwhile, Pushpavalli and Nikhil sort the okras at the packhouse. Nikhil is appreciative of Pushpavalli’s personality. He says she is attractive in her conversation style. Pushpavalli again begins to wonder if Nikhil likes her romantically.

On the other hand, Pankaj reaches Vidyut’s place. He tells Vidyut’s family that Pushpavalli has not been eating to lose weight. He also tells them that Vidyut is not physically attracted to Pushpavalli. Vidyut’s parents and aunt suspect that there’s something brewing between Pushpavalli and Pankaj. Vidyut’s family thinks that Pushpavalli and Pankaj want them to call off the marriage so that the two can marry later. To save Pushpavalli from marrying Vidyut, Pankaj falsely admits that he loves Pushpavalli.

In the packhouse, Nikhil asks Pushpavalli about her fiance. He asks if they both like each other. Pushpavalli’s lack of confidence regarding her feelings for Vidyut makes Nikhil wonder whether she really wants to marry him.

Nikhil and Pushpavalli go to the tea stall. Nikhil asks her why she chose such a complicated way to learn how he felt about her. Why did she stalk him the way she did? After trying to avoid saying it, Pushpavalli explains that she behaved like that because they both look a certain way. He is a tall, handsome man and she is a chubby short heighted girl. Nikhil tells her that she needs to start believing in herself. We can see Pushpavalli is swaying. She even imagines her engagement with Nikhil while sitting on the bench with him.

They return to the packhouse. While Nikhil and Pushpavalli are going through the checklist for the consignment, Pushpavalli receives a video from the tea-boy. The video is a clip from the CCTV at Nikhil’s house. The video shows Nikhil and Rameeza, the doctor who was in charge of his mother’s health at the hospital, making out. Pushpavalli is stunned. Nikhil snaps her back to the conversation and asks if it was her fiance’s message that has her shocked. He implies that he knows something about Vidyut. Pushpavalli catches Nikhil’s words and questions him. Nikhil tells her that he knows Vidyut has been making her starve. He then begins lecturing her - There is someone who will like her for who she is and she just needs to wait longer. Pushpavalli leaves refusing Nikhil’s offer to drop her to her PG.

Pushpavalli enters her room in the PG through the window and goes under the bed right away. She is still not able to believe Nikhil’s involvement with Rameeza. Even I don’t understand what was the need for him to lead her on if he wasn’t interested in her.  He knows how she feels about him. This time he was also aware that she does irrational things and is extremely gullible. Honestly, if Pushpavalli is stupid and childish to stalk Nikhil because she liked him, Nikhil is also stupid to make friends with her as if nothing ever happened. Is Pushpavalli’s personality so attractive that you can’t not be her friend? If I were in Nikhil’s place, I would have cut all ties with Pushpavalli after learning about her stalking.

Vasu knocks the suitcase away which Pushpavalli used to hide herself, and pulls Pushpavalli out from under the bed. She yells at her. Vasu is indeed quite insensitive. She reminds Pushpavalli that she is the daughter of a single woman who hasn’t raised her well. Vasu also says that no man would ever like a girl like her. This scene makes me feel quite sad for Pushpavalli.

Vasu coerces all the PG girls to throw Pushpavalli’s stuff out. Pushpavalli stands homeless with her suitcase and clothes lying on the road. She is dejected and disappointed. The seventh episode ends on a sad note.
