What The Folks: Season 3 Episode 2 Recap - Not Kidding

The episode focuses on Anita and Nikhil’s dilemma on whether to have a baby or not.

What The Folks: Season 3 Episode 2 Recap - Not Kidding

The episode opens with Anita telling Nikhil that she wants to have a child. She believes that the time is right to start a family. But Nikhil is not ready for the huge commitment.

Vandu has become highly possessive of Kiran's health. Throughout the day, she acts like his teacher. And Kiran's decision to get the legal will made for his property further irritates her. She does not like his "Kal ho na ho" attitude. But Kiran can't help but worry about his loved ones after he's gone.

Sudha is living a bachelorette's life. She comes back to an empty house and has no one to talk to at home. A funny guy named Pintu, who looks after the Sharmas' car downstairs is all the interaction she gets in a day.

Meanwhile, Kiran has gotten pretty dramatic about his health. He considers getting a spot booked for himself at a care centre. Vandu is against the decision to even step one. She makes her husband realise that no matter what the circumstances are, his family is always going to be by his side without considering him a burden.

Anita is upset with Nikhil because he isn't sure about having kids. While roaming in a supermarket, they constantly nag each other about how their priorities have changed over the years. Nikhil, who used to say "dad at 30, rad at 60", is not ready to be a parent. And Anita, who didn't want to have kids, is getting emotional while looking at a child making ponytails out of his father's hair, at the supermarket.

Shreya's condition is similar to that of Sudha's. The only difference being, Shreya is not ready to come out of her comfort zone and interact with people yet.

This season's story feels forced with plenty of stretched plots. The first world problems of the characters make their dilemmas feel small. After two delightful seasons, I can’t help but wonder, if this season will be below the usual standard we have come to expect from What The Folks.

Episode Rating: 3.5/5
