What The Folks: Season 2 Episode 6 Recap - Home
Season 2 of What The Folks ends on a hopeful note.

After the sudden revelations of the previous episode, the Solanki parivar finally sits together to discuss Shreya’s problems. Her parents are furious at her for not being open with them. Very firmly, Shreya says that she is done compromising for the sake of her marriage. Kiran tries to make her understand that it is ‘respect’ and not ‘love’ that keeps a marriage afloat, but Shreya tells her family that she can’t respect herself in her marriage.
The next few days are full of silences. No one smiles. Nikhil stays back at his work to escape from the awkward atmosphere at home. It becomes his coping mechanism. But as always, Rohan - the life coach, comes to Nikhil’s rescue. Rohan tells him that running away from conflicts and grudges wouldn’t solve Nikhil’s equations with Anita and Shreya.
Nikhil realises that he was at fault as well. No one likes it when a person loses their temper and screams at you. He confides in his parents that he is feeling miserable with guilt. Kiran and Vandu encourage him to talk to Anita and Shreya.
The conversation between Nikhil and Anita doesn’t go well. Anita has too many grudges against Nikhil, who has been behaving like a child. She is furious at him for not treating her like an equal in his family. Clearly, Nikhil has a lot of things to work on. And the main thing is his lack of communication skills.
Nikhil sticks a note on his sister’s head while she’s sleeping. The note reads, “I’m Sorry!! Meet me at the same bar. Same time”. It makes me happy to see Nikhil trying out cute tactics to mend his bond with Shreya.
At the bar, the siblings finally open about their sentiments. The conversation is full of honest confessions. The anger has been kept aside for now. Very sincerely, Nikhil apologizes to Shreya. She was his best friend. When Shreya decided to move out of their home in Dehradun, he felt betrayed by her. It was a breaking point in their relationship for him. Shreya empathizes with Nikhil. She tells him that she loves him a lot and abandonment had never been her motive. She needed to move out for her own sake, to live her own life on her own terms.
In the end, all becomes well between Nikhil and Shreya. Being an elder sibling myself, the heartfelt interaction between them made me weepy. The scene was the highlight of the season for me.
Later, Nikhil’s equation with Anita improves when he tells her not to make any compromises for him. He motivates her to quit her job. Now, this is the ‘understanding husband’ character I had been waiting for Nikhil to transform into.
It isn’t long before the family starts smiling and laughing once again.
But this happiness is short lived. One happy day, Anita takes a look at Kiran’s meds, and she is shocked to discover that her father-in-law is battling with Alzhemier’s. Clearly, this is the reason Kiran forgot his way back home in the pilot episode.
The finale of the season comes to an end with a shocker and a cliffhanger. What will be the folks’ future? Or more precisely, what does the season 3 of WTF have in store for Kiran?
