Wafa Na Raas Aayee Song Breakdown

Let's explore Jubin Nautiyal's revamped version of Bollywood oldie Wafa Na Raas Aayee

Wafa Na Raas Aayee is an upcoming urdu-hindi song by Jubin Nautiyal. It is presented by Gulshan Kumar and T-Series. The music production is by Meet Bros and it is written by Rashmi Virag. The official video of the song is shot in picturesque Kashmir with Shikaras and snow covered hills. The actors in the video are Arushi Nishank, Himansh Kohli, Rohit Suchanti.

The song’s title means the singer’s faithfulness and love was not suitable for the girl who broke his heart. He calls his ex-lover Harjai which means a woman who capriciously deceives her lover.

The video begins with flashback scenes of a couple. They are happy and are having the time of their life in Kashmir. Then these scenes cut to the current situation of the man who is now a poor boat keeper. He sees his ex-flame now vacationing with another man. She doesn’t recognise him initially and she and her husband travel in his boat.

The theme of the video chosen resonates with the lyrics as the song is about heartbreak and an unfaithful woman. The boat keeper personifies the lines Mere Dil Se Tu Aise Khel Gaya Ab Jee Na Sakoon Mar Bhi Na Sakoon of the song;  he is shown utterly depressed and hopeless. The lyrics and the video of the song further show that the man even blames himself for not recognising the true character of his lover.

In the video, we see flashbacks of the places the couple had gone to and made memories. Now, the girl is taking his new lover to those same places. More flashbacks tell us that while the narrator of this story was actually falling in love with his customer, the girl was just having fun and deceiving him. Near the end of the song the boat keeper tries to get her back but she leaves him again like the last time and runs back to her rich husband.

Lyrics  ‘Tune Vaar Kiya Seedhe Dil Pe Aur Palak Bhi Na Jhapkayi’ tell us that the heartbroken lover could never fathom her intentions. Wafa Na Raas Aayi Tujhe O Harjai is the hook of the song and these lines are repeated many times reminding the listeners that this is a song about heartbreak and infidelity.

The direction and the story goes well with the song. Jubin Nautiyal’s melodious vocals prove that he is not a masala pop artist and knows how to diligently tug the heartstrings of his fans.
The background music with oriental instruments and tabla only adds to the beauty of the song.

For heartbroken lovers this song is going to be a go-to anthem.
