Upcoming Hindi Movies of 2020

2020 has a lot of upcoming OTT releases for the year.

Upcoming Hindi Movies of 2020

We all miss standing in the queue outside the hall, grab a popcorn bucket, and watch a movie on the big screen, don't we? Fortunately, we have a simpler and cheaper alternative to our cravings. That is: switch off the lights, turn on the AC, increase the speakers' bass, make popcorn, sit cozily in front of the TV and stream new movie releases on OTT platforms.

If you run out of movies to watch, here are some upcoming films of 2020:

1. Pareeksha

The lady who played Saroo's birth mother (Priyanka Bose) in Lion and the man who played Pi Patel's father (Adil Hussain) in Life of Pi, are casted together in this upcoming movie. Written and directed by Prakash Jha, Pareeksha is inspired by real-life events and revolves around a rickshaw puller's struggle to ensure the best education for his son. To be streamed on ZEE5 on 6th August 2020, the trailer suggests that it is not a movie to be ignored.

2. Gunjan Saxena: The Kargil Girl

Inspired by real events, the movie stars Jahnvi Kapoor in the lead role as India's first woman pilot in combat. The trailer suggests that we have some thrilling war scenes to look up to. The film is set to release on Netflix on 14th August 2020. What better way to spend Independence Day than watch a patriotic movie?

3. Bhuj: The Pride of India

Following the "Inspired by True Events" path, Bhuj is set against the backdrop of the 1971 Indo-Pak war. The film revolves around the struggle of retired wing commander Vijay Karnik in the war and stars Ajay Devgn, Sonakshi Sinha, Sanjay Dutt, Parineeti Chopra, Rana Daggubati and Ammy Virk in pivotal roles. Directed by Abhishek Dudhaiya, Bhuj is another action-ridden patriotic film to look forward to this Independence Day and is expected to release on 14th August 2020 on the OTT platform Disney+Hotstar.

4. Mee Raqsam

Inspired by the relationship between the veteran actress Shabana Azmi and her father, the celebrated poet Kaifi Azmi, Mee Raqsam stars Naseeruddin Shah in the lead role. The teaser shows a young girl learning Bharatanatyam against her community's will. Shah is intimated and dressed in the 60s' aesthetics. Looks like we are going to have a new classic on our watchlist. Mee Raqsam is set to release on the OTT platform ZEE5 on 21st August 2020.

5. Class of 83'

Year 1983...controversial police encounters. Hussain Zaidi's 2019 biographical book is based on the aftermath of the events in the life of a police officer. Based on the book of the same name, Class of '83 is directed by Atul Sabharwal and stars Bobby Deol in the lead. The movie will premiere on 21st August 2020 on Netflix.

6. Sadak 2

Directed by Mahesh Bhatt, Sadak 2 stars Alia Bhatt, Pooja Bhatt, Aditya Roy Kapur, Sanjay Dutt in pivotal roles. It is the sequel to the 1991 movie Sadak. The movie will stream on 28th August 2020 on the OTT platform Disney+Hotstar.

7. Laxmmi Bomb

A remake of the Tamil movie Kanchana, Laxmmi Bomb is an upcoming horror-comedy starring Akshay Kumar and Kiara Advani in lead roles. The Tamil counterpart of Laxmmi Bomb is primarily centred on a transgender person's spirit who in a bid to seek revenge, possesses a man's body. Seems like Akshay Kumar has finally decided to do a not-so-patriotic film. To be streamed on the OTT platform Disney+Hotstar, the release date is yet to be announced.

8. The Big Bull

Starring Abhishek Bachchan and Ileana D'Cruz in pivotal roles, The Big Bull is loosely based on Harshad Mehta's life in the 1990s involving financial crimes. Harshad Mehta was a stockbroker who was part of some serious money scams in the 90s. And of course, Bollywood has to step in and make a movie out of that scandal. To be streamed on the OTT platform Disney+Hotstar, the release date is yet to be announced.
