The Final Call Season 1 Episode 7 Recap

Parineeta and Karan come to terms with each other while Kale plans to strike the plane down

The Final Call Season 1 Episode 7 Recap

This episode begins with Kale explaining to Kiran, an alternate strategy for the skyline 502 situation if the diver they send fails to kill the pilot. He is planning to shoot Captain Karan through fighter jets.

Cut to Parineeta knocking on the cockpit door. She apologises to Karan for blaming him for Joe’s death. She tells him that she knows that he is not a dishonest man and further adds that she can’t imagine what he is going through. In the end she tells him that she is ready to help him in any way possible and hopes that he will re-think his plan to crash the plane.

At this point, Karan opens the cockpit door and shows her that his communications are down, control panels are jammed, electricals are burned due to the thunderstorm and the navigation is malfunctioning.

Karan tells her that he does not want innocent passengers to die. Parineeta, fearing a crash soon, blurts  out that even the commando pilot can’t save them now.

Karan is confused and asks her what pilot she is talking about. She tells him about the mid-air break in plan.

Karan asks for Siddharth's satellite phone that Parineeta was using to contact ATC. Parineeta tells him that the battery of the phone is dead.

Giselle and Parineeta find an additional battery inside Siddharth’s bag and Tyagi helps them with the technical arrangement for the charging port.

Back at ATC, Kale doesn’t receive Parineeta’s signal for the cargo hatch plan so he orders the fighter jets to get in position for Plan B, the alternate strategy.

Kiran receives a call from Parineeta and learns that Karan has allowed Partineeta inside the cockpit and then learns of all the technical failures on the plane.

Kiran asks Kale to abort his plan immediately.

Captain Karan asks for engineers who can guide him to fix the electrical problems. Kiran forwards the call to ATC engineer Sushant.

Sushant guides Captain Karan through various procedures to restart the jammed controls but none of them work.

Indian defence ministry is notified of the possibility that Skyline 502 might crash land in Indonesia. PMO’s office gives permission to strike the plane down if required.

Kiran calls Captain Karan for one last time before the strike and learns that all of his electrical systems are back and he has control over the plane.

Kale says that there is still a risk and he is going to go through with the strike. Captain Karan begs him not to do this but Kale gives the order for the strike anyway.

Captain Karan smartly takes the plane to an altitude at which he knows ATC is not authorized to blast the plane. Kale aborts the mission.

Back at the cockpit, Karan hints to Parineeta that he is still not in a mood to land the plane. He turns on the communication with ATC. He gets angry with Kiran and Kale for almost going through with their plan. Kale tells Karan he was just following orders.

We go into a flashback to the wedding night where Karan met his co-pilot that had bombed Hakif’s school. When Karan reprimands the pilot for his actions, the pilot says he was just following orders.

Cut to the current narrative, Captain Karan refuses to discuss the landing procedure with ATC.

Kale’s colleague has found some information on Kiran’s background.

The episode ends with Kale telling Kiran that she cannot negotiate with Karan anymore because she is emotionally compromised. Kale tells her that he knows the dead co-pilot, Abhimanyu, was his son.

That was an unbelievable plot twist! But unfortunately it doesn’t fix the major flaws in this episode. There is a lot of technical stuff that does not feel real. Kale’s plan to kill Karan through fighter jets was so ridiculous!

In this episode we also learn that Dhruv broke his leg during a very important soccer match and then came up with the decision to spend maximum time with his grandmother in her last days and to also renovate her old age home.

Sarah remembers a reference Krishnamurthy made about her love life and comes to the conclusion that Dhruv is the person she is destined to marry.

What I liked about the plot twist was that before the reveal we see foreshadowing and hints about it. We see Kiran pregnant in flashbacks but never learn about her child. Also we never discover the reason for Kiran resigning from her ATC job and I feel it has something to do with her son.

Episode Rating- 3/5
