The Final Call Season 1 Episode 6 Recap

Parineeta finally learns the truth behind the deaths on board.

The Final Call Season 1 Episode 6 Recap

The episode begins with Dhruv telling Sarah how he sacrificed his career for the woman he loves. Sarah disagrees with his decision until Dhruv shows her a picture of the woman.

In the flashback we see that Dhruv is very close to his grandmother. She takes some money out of her old age home funds to pay for his soccer coaching. Cut to years later Dhruv meets his grandmother in an old age home but she doesn’t recognise him due to Alzheimer’s.

In another flashback we learn that Sarah didn’t have a happy childhood. We see her parents fighting in front of her and her father leaving the house.

In the cockpit, emergency alarms are blaring and Captain Karan is losing control of the flight. Suddenly we see Abhimanyu’s soul, the dead co-pilot, walk out of his body. Abhimanyu learns that he is dead when he fails to communicate with the crew members. Now, he walks through the passenger aisle and no one except Krishnamurthy sees him. Krishnamurthy invites Abhimanyu to sit with him.

Abhimanyu tells him that he wants revenge from Karan, Krishnamurthy tries to talk him into forgiving Karan. He gives him spiritual advice and calms Abhimanyu, who has become resentful and angry because his life was cut short.  Later, we see Abhimnayu’s soul go to the afterlife.

At the ATC, Kiran is notified that Skyline 502 is steadily descending and that the communication is still offline. Kiran calculates that with the current descent rate the flight has about 3 hours before it crash lands.

Kale says that this is a suicide bomber tactic. Kiran, now helpless with the situation growing increasingly out of her hands, agrees to listen to Kale’s suggestion on how to handle the situation.

Now we learn about Kale’s strategy. He wants to get a commando inside the plane midair. But first he needs a passenger to open the cargo hatch inside the plane. Kale plans to get a fighter jet near the plane and send in a diver who will enter the plane and kill the pilot.

Back in the cockpit, Karan has started talking to himself again. He is wondering out loud if he will die due to  the plane crash or fuel shortage. He reflects on how he wanted to die peacefully by poison and the irony of the current situation.

He also talks about being aware of  a certain ATC tactic if the plane goes below 10,000 feet.

Captain Karan’s flashback starts. We see the Kashmiri boy, Hakif, talking about becoming a different type of soldier when he grows up. Karan understands that Hakif is talking about becoming a terrorist. Hakif tells Karan that his father told him that Indian army is fighting for Kashmiri land and not the people.

There is another flashback in which it is hinted that maybe Karan, after incessant pressure from his officer, might have bombed Hakif’s school too.

In the business class, Parineeta while cleaning the area finds Siddharth’s satellite phone. She immediately hides in a washroom and calls the ATC. Kiran is told that Captain Joe is dead and Captain Karan is unstable. Kale explains his plan to Parineeta and orders her to open the cargo hatch of the plane.

She does as she is asked to and while she is returning back to the passenger aisle she sees Giselle mixing two used glasses of water to give to a passenger. This reminds Parineeta of the time she asked her to give Joe a cup of coffee. She corners Giselle and asks her how she had prepared Captain Joe’s coffee. Parineeta’s fears turn out to be true. Giselle gave Captain Joe Abhimanyu’s poison mixed coffee.

She tells Giselle that Karan wasn’t lying when he said he didn’t kill Joe and that she is the actual culprit. Parineeta further realises that Abhimanyu must have drank Karan’s coffee by mistake. She remembers Karan mixing something in his own cup and lying about taking vitamins.

The episode ends with a fighter jet hovering above the Skyline 502.

I felt disappointed when the show took a supernatural turn. It lead the story to become very out of touch with reality. A lot of confusion is present in this episode and the narrative is not smooth. It is not clarified why Kale is sending a commando to kill Karan when Parineeta has already told Kiran that Joe is dead. How is the plane going to land if the pilot is shot dead?

Krishnamurthy is portrayed more as a god-like figure than just an astrologer. He is eerily calm and is not afraid of dying. In this episode we see him giving advice on love and life to Sarah.

The Final Call is slowly deteriorating in quality due to it’s slow pace. I hope it improves.
