The Final Call Season 1 Episode 5 Recap

The situation on-board becomes worse as Captain Karan slowly loses his grip over the reality

The Final Call Season 1 Episode 5 Recap

In the last episode we see Captain Karan flying the airplane into a thunderstorm. Now, the crew and the passengers begin to feel an increase in turbulence as the plane goes further into the storm. Soon the whole plane begins to shake violently.

Parineeta knocks at Captain Joe’s cabin. When she gets no response, she becomes hysterical. She starts beating the cockpit cabin and screams at Captain Karan. She asks him why he is flying the plane into a thunderstorm. But Captain Karan is still in his dissociated state. Karan is  hallucinating that he is flying a fighter jet in the middle of a battle. Back at the ATC, the technicians have lost the tracking signal of the flight.

Kiran gets a call from her journalist friend. She tells Kiran that her channel is going to start covering the Skyline 502 flight situation since they have news that it has been hijacked.

Parineeta finally breaks open Joe’s cabin and finds him dead.

In the cockpit, Captain Karan takes the plane to a higher altitude and passes the thunderstorm. oon ATC gets the tracking signal of the flight back. Captain Karan tries contacting the ATC and tells them that the plane is losing altitude at a high speed and that the controls are jammed. But ATC doesn’t receive Karan’s communication attempts.

Parineeta bangs on the closed cockpit door again and calls Karan a maniac. She tells him that she knows he has killed both the pilots. Karan tries to tell her that she is misunderstanding the situation but Parineeta has lost all trust and confidence in him. She screams that he is out of his mind and even showers a couple of personal remarks regarding his sanity.

The episode ends with the plane rapidly descending.

This was the most disappointing episode in this series. The writers definitely did not have enough plot for this episode. It was not even a filler episode. The cliffhanger of the last episode still remains and the story hasn’t moved ahead even a bit.

There are 3 unnecessary back stories crammed in this story. None of them had any important plot cues and did not tell us anything new or interesting about the characters.

We learn how Tyagi escaped prison and how Krishnamurthy became his personal astrologer. Tyagi used to be a painter. He has some unsaid disagreement with his boss and it is hinted that he kills him. Parineeta was initially afraid of flying in airplanes and comes from a poor background.

This episode's prime motive was to give the character fuller stories and to create empathy for the passengers. The creators want the audience to know how human these characters are and relate to their struggles.
