In the last episode of The Family Man season 2, will Srikant and his team be successful in stopping the mission of the terrorists?

The Family Man Season 2 Episode 9 Recap: The Final Act

The last episode of the thriller web series The Family Man Season 2 has a lot of expectations attached to it and I hope the ending doesn’t disappoint. The ninth episode of The Family Man 2 starts outside Syed’s building. Shinde and other policemen are present along with Srikant and Ajit. To confirm that they are at the right place, Srikant sends Shinde to Syed’s apartment undercover as the watchman of the building. He rings the doorbell and Syed opens the door with Sajid behind him. Shinde says that there will be no water tomorrow and leaves. Sajid finds this suspicious and asks Syed if he has seen the watchman before to which Syed replies in the negative. Outside, Shinde confirms the presence of Syed and tells Srikant that Sajid is also present in the apartment. Dhriti gains consciousness in her room. Sajid and Syed plan to leave the apartment but first, Sajid wants to kill the girl. Hearing this, Dhriti quickly drags the bed to the door of the room. She sits on the bed preventing the door from opening with all her force. Sajid tries to break the door but Syed tells him that there isn’t time for this. They leave through the window. Srikant, Ajit and team enter the apartment and Srikant and Dhriti reunite. He sends Dhriti to the hospital and sees Salman’s dead body. Sajid and Syed try to escape the officers stationed outside the building. Syed is shot. After a brief chase, Sajid is surrounded by the police in all directions. Srikant asks him to surrender but Sajid tries to play smart and is finally shot dead.

The next morning, Muthu is at Tigris with the forensics team. The terrorists and the plane are gone. Moreover, JK is missing. Oh god, I hope he is not dead!

Dhriti is in the hospital. She feels bad for killing Kalyan but Srikant tells her not to because it was her kidnapper that she killed. Srikant also tells her that Kalyan is alive. Dhriti confronts her father about the truth of his job. Suchi makes her understand that Srikant has a risky job and they didn’t tell the kids about it to protect them. So, Suchi knew the nature of his job all along. Srikant and Suchi talk about the next course of action in Dhriti’s treatment which is counselling. We also learn that Srikant lied to Dhriti about Salman being alive.

Srikant tells Muthu that he is reaching Chennai. Traces of C-4 are found at Tigris. Muthu also tells Srikant that he spoke to air traffic control and they don’t have any record of an aircraft taking off. Srikant wonders how a plane can disappear without flying?

Next, we see the terrorists travelling in a truck. They are stopped at a highway checkpoint. An officer wants to check what is inside the truck. There are some machine pieces covered by a sheet which Selva explains are for a windmill for his farm. The officer objects that they don’t have a transit permit and doesn’t let them go even after Selva attempts to bribe him. Throughout this scene we see the officer eyeing Raji. Raji goes up to the officer and they go to a mysterious place together. What is Raji doing?

In London, Deepan’s informer finds Bhaskaran’s whereabouts. Deepan immediately calls Dambit and passes on the information that he has obtained.

A local passer-by finds JK’s body in the jungle. He takes JK’s wallet and phone and leaves.

We learn that Raji slept with the officer so that the terrorists can get their truck back. Back on the road, Bhaskaran guides Selva about the plan of action. There is a property called Kicha Farms nearby belonging to Bhaskaran’s friend. He directs Selva to use it as their base. We also learn that the terrorists are carrying the plane in the truck in a dismantled form. Smart move, Selva!

JK’s phone is switched on and TASC tracks down his location. They arrest the man who stole his phone. The man leads them to JK’s body. Meanwhile, Srikant arrives in Chennai and asks for an update on JK. The doctor says that JK has a weak pulse. An anxious Srikant gives out a sigh of relief and JK is taken to the hospital immediately.

The terrorists reach Kicha Farms and plan to use the 600m stretch of the farms as a runway. They start assembling the aircraft.

Srikant and Muthu visit JK in the hospital. The doctor tells them that he will be out of the ICU by the next day. Srikant sees JK and gets emotional. Some light banter follows between the two best friends and JK cautions Srikant to tread carefully with Raji.

A day before the D-day, the terrorists sit to discuss the plan. Selva tells them that Sajid didn’t make it. This makes Raji aggressive.

The police arrest Bhaskaran from his hiding place in Normandy, France. Deepan along with the police sit to question him. However, Bhaskaran kills himself before the officials are able to get anything substantial from him.

Basu arrives in Chennai and Rupatunga is on his way. Sambit orders Kulkarni to find the plane as soon as possible.

Muthu speaks to a senior air force officer who tells him how a particular community used to dismantle their aircraft and carry them in trucks. Muthu thinks that the terrorists have used the same technique. The team figures out the route that they could have taken out of Tigris.

Srikant and the team visit various checkpoints from Tigris. They reach the checkpoint where the terrorists’ truck was nabbed and show Raji’s picture to the officer. The officer denies having seen her. However, a shop owner nearby tells the TASC team about all that happened between Raji and the officer. Finally, the officer gives them the details of the terrorists’ truck. Srikant and Muthu try to think where the terrorists could have gone from here. The resourceful Chellam comes to the rescue. Srikant calls him. He explains the situation to Chellam and also tells him their current location i.e., Bangalore checkpoint. Chellam tells Srikant that there is a place called Kicha Farms near the Bangalore checkpoint which is owned by one of Bhaskaran’s friends.

At Kicha Farms, the plane and terrorists are ready.

The Sri Lankan president arrives at the venue for the talks.

Srikant and the team reach Kicha Farms and Prabhu spots their cars. Firing from both sides follows. Srikant kills Selva. Raji moves towards the plane and starts to take off. Srikant and Muthu shoot at the moving plane and keep shooting till the plane is in the air. And..BOOM. The plane explodes mid-air. TASC is successful in its mission.

The talks go by smoothly and the two leaders sign the Northern Sri Lankan port deal.

The scene shifts to the Rashtrapati Bhavan in New Delhi where the TASC team is awarded medals by PM Basu. Milind is also posthumously awarded.

At home, Srikant tells his family about the proud moment when the PM awarded him the medal. However, they change the topic as soon as Atharv enters the room since he is still unaware of his father’s job.

Srikant and Suchi sit to talk after dinner. Srikant brings up the topic of her birthday dinner when Suchi wanted to tell him something. “What’s bothering you?”, says Srikant. “I have to tell you something”, Suchi replies and the scene ends here. Once again, we’re kept hanging about what happened between Suchi and Arvind in Lonavala. However, looking at how stressed Suchi was during the whole second season of The Family Man, it seems like she cheated on Srikant but we can’t say it with surety.

In the next scene, the story enters the COVID-19 pandemic era. A mysterious man in Kolkata communicates with some Chinese people to put mission ‘Guan Yu’ to fruition in Nagaland. This is a plot point for the third season of The Family Man. I’m just happy that the second season isn’t the end of The Family Man series because the makers, Raj and DK, have done a great job on both seasons of the show.

The Family Man season 2 ends on a good note with respect to the family of Srikant. However, Suchi’s ‘truth’ might disturb this peace without any recourse. We can only wait till the third season of The Family Man to find out!
