The Family Man Season 2 Episode 2 Recap: Weapon

The second episode of The Family Man season 2 opens in London. Major Sameer is with Sajid. Sameer enters a restaurant and Sajid manages to turn off its CCTV cameras. General Ansari is in the restaurant. Sameer goes up to him. Ansari apologises to Sameer for betraying them at the last moment, however, Sameer hasn’t forgiven him. They talk for a brief while and shake hands as Sameer leaves. Next, we see Ansari die from a cardiac arrest. This is caused by a chemical in Sameer’s ring while shaking hands. Sameer has avenged himself.

In Chennai, a woman named Raji works in a factory. Her boss sexually harasses her. She is also molested by a man while going back home on a bus.

In Mumbai, Srikant and Suchi reach the marriage counsellor’s office and wait for their turn to go inside the counsellor’s room. Funnily, Atharv is also present as Srikant didn’t get the time to drop him off at home from school. Atharv reads a pamphlet about hypnosis. Srikant asks Suchi about Arvind. She says that she is not in touch with him anymore. The receptionist gives the couple an audio file and a book about relationships, marriage and sex. They go inside the counsellor’s office. The counsellor is the late actor Asif Basra. We learn that Suchi left her job when Srikant took up his corporate job because she wanted to spend more time at home and with the kids. The counsellor then makes them do a small relationship exercise and asks them about their level of “physical intimacy” with each other. Srikant gets uncomfortable and what follows is a comical exchange of quotes between Srikant and the counsellor. Srikant calls him a fraud and leaves angrily.

Major Sameer sends Sajid on a mission to India.

Deepan from London calls the PM’s secretary, Sambit, to talk about Subbu’s custody. Deepan and Bhaskaran want Subbu back and warn Sambit of repercussions if Subbu is handed over to the Lankans.

Kalyan picks up Dhriti from school. He takes her to a construction site. They kiss on the top floor.

Atharv tests the hypnosis that he read about on Dhriti and a dog in the park. The hypnosis puts the dog to sleep.

Next, we’re shown the monotony of Srikant’s office life. He looks lifeless and is the recluse of the office. His boss notices this and gives him a lecture to motivate him through his staple “Don’t be a minimum guy” monologue.

When Srikant leaves office, a journalist questions him about Kareem Bhat’s death and a video that surfaced online in which Kareem pronounced the Indian authorities as his murderers. The video was removed shortly after its release. This triggers Srikant and he threatens the journalist warning him to never come near him again.

Milind reaches Zoya’s residence. She is wheelchair-ridden, although she can stand with some help. Milind tells her that TASC wants him back. Zoya suggests that he not punish himself and go.

Srikant meets Kulkarni and tells him about the incident with the journalist. Srikant feels guilty about Kareem’s death and Kareem’s family being under the impression that he was a terrorist. Kulkarni tells him that this is a part and parcel of their job.

Subbu is taken to court for his trial. Sajid plants a scooter bomb outside the court and…BOOM. Subbu is dead!

Bhaskaran learns about his brother’s death. The people of Chennai hold the government and the police accountable for his death and protest against police brutality.

In grief, Bhaskaran quits the cause and hands over his responsibilities as the Prime Minister of the Government in Exile to Deepan.

Kulkarni and Sambit have credible intel to prove that the attack that killed Subbu was orchestrated by ISI but Ms. Basu doesn’t believe it. She asks Sambit to call Rupatunga and fix a date for bilateral talks in Chennai. “Let him think that we’ve killed Subbu”, she says.

Sameer meets Bhaskaran and they bash Basu together. Sameer extends a hand of support to him in his fight against India. Well played, Sameer!

Bhaskaran calls Selva, an old rebel associate and tells him that they’re working for the cause of the Tamil Lankans again. Selva gets excited.

In the next scene, we see Raji being harassed again by the same man on the bus. She gets off at her stop but the man follows her. When they reach an isolated place, Raji beats him up and kills him. We learn that she was also a Tamil rebel once. She is about to take her life when Selva calls her and tells her about the mission. Her eyes light up and the episode ends here.

The second episode of The Family Man Season 2 introduces us to Raji (played by Samantha Akkineni) who looks like a pivotal character in the future. Although a bit slow, this episode of The Family Season 2 reveals enough information to keep us hooked.
