The Family Man is an Indian action thriller web series created and directed by Raj Nirimodu and Krishna DK, popularly known as Raj & DK, on Amazon Prime Video. The web series stars Manoj Bajpayee, Priyamani, Sharad Kelkar, Neeraj Madhav, Sharib Hashmi, Dalip Tahil, Sunny Hinduja, Shreya Dhanwanthary, and Samantha Akkineni in major roles. Its first season released in September 2019 and received a great response from both audiences and critics based on the acting performances, story, and direction and eventually went on to become one of the most viewed series on Amazon Prime Video.

The second season was initially announced to release in February 2021, but got delayed and is now set to release on June 4. The trailer of The Family Man Season 2 released on May 19 and got the netizens all excited. It remained trending on number one on Youtube for more than a week.

However, the makers got into trouble recently when the Tamil Nadu government wrote to the Union Government’s Minister of Information & Broadcasting, Mr. Prakash Javadekar seeking a ban on the show, on the pretext of the portrayal of Eelam Tamils in a negative light. According to the IT Minister of Tamil Nadu,  Mano Thangaraj, the trailer of The Family Man released by Amazon Prime Video aims to discredit and distort the struggles of Eelam Tamils in Sri Lanka.  Information Technology Minister of Tamil Nadu’s letter quoted, “I would like to state that the above serial has not only hurt the sentiments of Eelam Tamils but also the feelings of the people of Tamil Nadu in large scale, and if allowed to broadcast, it would be prejudicial to the maintenance of harmony in the state.”

The producers in their defense have stated that the assumptions made on the basis of a few shots in the trailer do not validate the allegations. The statement released by Raj & DK said, "Some assumptions and impressions have been made based on just a couple of shots in the trailer. Many of our lead cast members, as well as key members of the creative & writing team, are Tamilians. We are very cognizant of the sentiments of the Tamil people and Tamil culture and have nothing but the utmost love and respect towards our Tamil people.”

There has been no response or any official statement by the side of the Union Government as yet. The Family Man Season 2 will release on June 4, 2021, on Amazon Prime Video.
