The Family Man Season 1 Episode 7 Recap: Paradise

This episode of Amazon Prime’s The Family Man offers a lot of thrill to the audience. Moosa is now free from the watch of security agencies. The casualties of the hospital incident  in the last episode are all over news channels. Several questions are raised on the role of the NIA. A worried Srikant watches the news in Srinagar. Moosa is in hiding and tries to contact his mother in Kerala. A stranger tells him that she might have gone to the Gulf where her son lives. He is disappointed and his eyes swell up with tears. So, this means that the story he had been repeating about his mother was indeed true. Throughout the series we see the many shades of Moosa which the actor Neeraj Madhav portrays very adeptly.

In Srinagar, Sajid grows impatient as he is kept in the dark about Mission Zulfiqar. He hasn’t been contacted by Basharat Ali yet and demands to speak to Faizan. It is commendable that the makers of the show have cast real Kashmiri actors to play Kashmiri roles to preserve the authenticity of the character.

Srikant mourns Pasha’s death and remembers the times he spent with him. He calls his boss, Sharma and suggests that he issue a red alert in all major cities since Moosa is on the run. He also tells Sharma about some suspects in Srinagar that might be involved in Zulfiqar but his boss ignores his claims. Srikant then calls JK to ask him about the situation in Mumbai. Srikant feels that Moosa’s story about his mother is true and tells JK to find out more about it.

Next, we see Suchi working in the café. Arvind isn’t present because his daughter is unwell. On learning this, Suchi goes to his home. Arvind’s wife isn’t at home. Suchi gets to know that he gave noodles to his sick daughter. Suchi cooks rasam rice for his daughter and feeds her like her mother. After that, Suchi and Arvind sit down to work in his home. There is a bit of sexual tension in the air that soon fades away. Suchi asks him about his wife but he doesn’t want to talk about it. It seems like Arvind and his wife are not on good terms. Arvind asks Suchi to accompany him and the CEO to the meeting with their investors the next day and she agrees.

In Pakistan, Major Sameer barges in to Faizan’s hiding place. The fact that Sajid wants all the details about Mission Zulfiqar doesn’t go down well with Sameer. Sameer tells Faizan to tame Sajid’s curiosity and ask him just to obey orders without asking any questions. In their conversation, we also learn that Moosa and Sajid are good friends as they trained together.

Srikant and Saloni get intel about Basharat Ali’s arrival at a wedding in Kashmir. They contemplate the reason for Basharat attending the wedding, leaving his safe place of hiding. Srikant suggests that it could be because Basharat is supposed to meet the “asset” there. Srikant, Saloni and Major Vikram from the army reach outside Baramulla where the wedding is supposed to take place. Vikram tells them that it is dangerous to go inside Baramulla as it is called ‘mini Pakistan’ where the Indian army isn’t tolerated. So, they station themselves outside the city. Finally, Basharat arrives. Srikant and his team can see the events happening outside the wedding from a camera enabled drone hovering in the air. Sajid also arrives after a while and meets Basharat Ali. Sajid expresses his wish to know the whole mission and not just its small bits. Basharat calls Faizan to make Sajid understand that that can’t be done. Faizan asks Sajid to have trust in him. He also assures Sajid that he will be taken care of by “Chettan”. This satisfies Sajid. It isn’t clear who “Chettan” is. Of course, they have this whole conversation in code language for fear of being caught.

TASC manages to intercept their call and listen to everything. They try to identify the voices in the call through their database. While they are unable to trace Sajid’s voice, Faizan’s voice is recognised. Hence, they get to know that Faizan, who is on the most wanted list of the CIA is also involved in this mission. Srikant, Saloni and Vikram come to the conclusion that Faizan was talking to the “asset”. They try to wrack their brains about who “Chettan” could be. Vikram suggests that it could mean ‘older brother’ in Malayalam. Srikant immediately exclaims that Moosa is Malayali and Chettan could indeed refer to Moosa. After a little resistance from Saloni and Vikram, Srikant goes undercover to the wedding dressed in Kashmiri attire.

He spots Sajid and recognises him immediately from the police station when Sajid was arrested for being anti-national. Srikant deliberately makes eye contact because he wants Sajid to recognise him. On seeing Srikant, Sajid flees from the scene and Srikant follows him. Sajid makes Srikant follow him a whole round before coming back to where he started - the wedding.

Sajid shouts and tells everyone that Srikant is from the Army. Many men gather around Srikant and start stone-pelting at him, shouting slogans of “Aazaadi”. Srikant tries to explain to the mob that Sajid is a criminal who is just using their cause to escape. Saloni comes in to control the situation. She talks to the people in Kashmiri and explains to them that Srikant is telling the truth. Since, people know her, they believe her and leave Srikant. Meanwhile, Sajid has escaped.

At the end of the day, Srikant is disappointed about Sajid slipping by. Saloni consoles him by saying that at least now they know who all are involved in the mission. This gives Srikant an idea . He says that he knows a man who can reach Faizan. The episode ends without giving any information about this man. Moosa is still on the run.

This episode leaves the audience curious and wanting more. The story gets more exciting as the hunting down of terrorists continues.
