Tandav Season 1 Episode 6 Recap - Babool ka Ped

Tandav sputters on and seems to be on an upward arc. This episode seems to be building to an interesting climax. Can this Amazon Prime series deliver?

Tandav Season 1 Episode 6 Recap - Babool ka Ped

The murder of Vishal, the big climax that we were introduced to in the last episode is shown in great detail at the start of this episode. Gurpal is a monster, Vishal is dead - moving on.

Sana is horrified at the outcome of her actions. She did not expect Vishal to die and is hysterical. She asks Jigar to tell her what is going on and threatens to expose his involvement. Jigar tells her that no one will believe her, she herself is involved, that the people on the other side are too powerful for her to go up against and that she will end up being the only person who goes to jail. He gives her the money and tells her to shut up.

Gurpal on the other hand informs Samar and Ayesha that he has been going through the footage but hasn’t found anything of consequence as of yet. Gurpal also tells Samar that he’s wounded and that he should wait to be in a stronger position before lashing out. Samar replies that he doesn’t have the luxury of waiting.

Sana pays the blackmailer and decides that she does not want to be with Jigar ever again. He’s bad news.

Chetan Kranti gives a speech on campus where he believes that CJLD is behind Vishal’s murder. Shiva doesn’t agree. He thinks that Chetan is responsible or else, how did Vishal’s phone turn up in Chetan’s drawer? He tells Sana that they should go to the cops, but Sana doesn’t want to. She knows that it’s her lies that have framed Chetan. Her guilt knows no bounds. But Jigar (the asshole) appears and tells her that she has to go to the cops. She has taken money for this work and this is the task that she needs to complete. He forces her into this and then kisses her lovingly on the forehead as she looks away disgusted and devastated. I really hope this girl can get away from this toxic relationship with an older man in a position of power over her. This is sexual harassment 101 folks!

Harasser professor also tries to put down his wife, who’s eager for a divorce. Thankfully, she puts him back in his place.

At the cable network offices, NNN, Garima Deswal, a political reporter gets a call from the anonymous caller (yes! the same one who called Anuradha). He tells her about Devki Nandan’s murder. She runs and tells the Editor at NNN but if I remember correctly from the first episode, he is a friend of Samar’s. He dismisses the call as a prank call.

Raghu, the man child, is pissed that his mother didn’t give him his favourite lollipop, also known as the Defence Ministry for India! *eyeroll* Anuradha has no patience for him. He in turn tells her that he knows that she regrets having him, that he was mistake and she didn’t want him. This guy has too many issues. Anuradha looks upset, but doesn’t respond.

Gurpal goes to the cops and bribes them to release Chetan Kranti. I think I know why he’s rooting for Chetan to walk around freely now.

Samar Pratap Singh heads to VNU and makes a speech about his time at college. Sana realises that the “powerful people” on the other side is none other than the youth leader of JDL, the almost Prime Minister of India! She looks terrified. Samar is great orator and is able to strike a chord with the students - even as a right wing politician in a leftist climate. As he is leaving Jigar Sampath introduces Samar to Shiva. Samar tells him that he has what it takes to be a politician. But Shiva continues to repeat that his plans are only focused on joining the Civil Services.

Chetan Kranti is released from prison and told by the cops that the only reason he was sent in it because he’s a Jaat. He paints the clash as a Jaats vs. Biharis issue. No points for guessing that Shiva Shekhar is a Bihari.

At campus, Shiva is totally flirting with Sana. He tells her at first that he’s impressed with Samar’s humility and charm. He then starts listening to music with her which results in them making out. There is a class difference between them which Shiva bridges beautifully.

As Sana leaves, Chetan Kranti gets the Jaats together and starts attacking the Biharis on campus. This results into a full blown fight. The catalyst that Samar needed to push Shiva into politics has further intensified. The pathway for Shiva to become a youth political leader is clear. Samar’s long winded path to gain a pawn against Anuradha has been *finally* achieved. The real question (that I have for the last 3 episodes) is - Now what?
