Sunflower Season 1 Episode 3 Recap: A Discovery

The statement of the delivery boy gives an edge to the ongoing investigation in Mr. Kapoor’s death case.

Sunflower Season 1 Episode 3 Recap: A Discovery

The third episode begins with Dilip Iyer, an orthodox and extremely regressive society chairman, interviewing a potential tenant with the other committee members. He believes in making his society a culturally appropriate one in which decent people reside. When the potential tenant reveals that he is a two-time divorcee and is currently in his third marriage, Mr. Iyer raises an eyebrow. He doesn’t give this man the rent contract implying that he doesn’t suit the norms set for tenants in the society.

Then we see Sonu hurriedly leaving for work. DG and Tambe stop Sonu and ask him to stay for two minutes. The police officers bring along the delivery boy from Ching Chong restaurant who delivered Chines food to Sonu’s place. DG asks the delivery boy, coincidentally who is also called Sonu, to explain the events which took place that day. The delivery boy recalls that when Sonu opened the door of his house, his mouth was covered with a mask, he was wearing gloves and big, transparent spectacles. Sonu, the tenant, asked why he was late and mentioned that he had already eaten.

But then, Sonu noticed the delivery boy’s muddy footprints in the corridor. So Sonu asked the delivery boy to come inside with him. Sonu gave a cloth to the delivery boy to clean the footprints. During this time, his food deliveries i.e. Sonu’s food and Mr Kappor’s food were at Sonu’s house. After finally cleaning the floor up to Sonu’s standards, the delivery boy left with Mr Kapoor’s package. Sonu agrees to everything which the other Sonu, the delivery boy, had narrated. DG is satisfied. He asks both of them to stay available on the phone. Both of them leave.

Sonu Singh is an obedient employee. He does his work diligently and is in the good books of his bosses. His colleagues are not fond of him. Sonu is often trusted with work that needs to be confidential.

Meanwhile, DG and Tambe go to Mr. and Mrs. Ahuja’s. Mr. Ahuja is a double PhD holder and a teacher by profession. Mr. and Mrs. Ahuja are scared because they have blood on their hands. However, DG and Tambe haven’t developed even an ounce of suspicion on the two. DG and Tambe only know that Mr. Ahuja and Mr. Kapoor did not have good relations. They had a conflict over parking space. DG visited Mr. Ahuja’s to have a look at his balcony and check if there’s a way to reach Mr. Kapoor’s through that. After having a little chat with Mr. Ahuja, DG and Tambe leave.

Tambe gets access to the full CCTV footage of the day on which the death of Mr. Kapoor took place. DG and Tambe analyse the footage meticulously.

After getting done with work, Sonu returns to his society. While coming up, he is accompanied by Justina, his new neighbour and Paddy, the society chairman’s daughter. Paddy and Justina strike a conversation. Justina is hosting a housewarming party at her place that day. She invites Paddy. Paddy politely refuses and gets off on the fourth floor. Sonu tries to make the move and introduce himself to Justina but doesn’t gather the courage and their floor arrives.

Now Sonu is aware that Justina has a party at her place. Sonu wishes to make the best of this opportunity to befriend Justina, which apparently he is dying to do. Sonu freshens up. Then he goes out and finds Justina’s flatmate, Gurleen, in the corridor. Gurleen has run away from her husband who lives in Chandigarh. Her husband is on the call with her. He is asking her to come back to Chandigarh, however, Gurleen doesn’t want to. She wants to stay in Mumbai and work for herself. Her husband hands over the phone to their Papaji and asks Gurleen to explain to him the situation. Gurleen comes across as scared of Papaji. Sonu intervenes and offers to talk to Papaji. Papaji is offended by this man on the phone. After the call is cut, Papaji, in his car asks the person sitting in the front to track the call. It seems Papaji is a powerful person with contacts. Let us wait for the subsequent episodes to see what he is up to.
