I typed “Tu Bhi Sataya Jayega” on YouTube. I had great expectations from this song because of its singer, Vishal Mishra. But the title of the song discouraged me from having any. A VYRL Original song, it was released on 27th April, 2021. The song’s music video is Trending on #3 on YouTube but after surviving through 4 minutes and 31 seconds of it, I had serious doubts about the YouTube Trend algorithm. According to the video description, it features Jasmin Bhasin and Aly Goni of “Bigg Boss fame” (Really? Is that their only identity now?). The real-life couple plays an unhappy married couple in the music video. Throughout the course of the story, Aly interacts with many women except his wife. Turns out, he is a womanizer and has relations with multiple women while still being married. 

He treats Jasmin like an object who he can throw wherever and whenever he wishes. Jasmin’s only job in the video is to cry. If television wasn’t enough, this trope of the woman always crying has also trickled into music videos. In a moment of courage, Jasmine goes up to her husband while they’re at a social gathering. She smudges off her sindur and breaks her bangles. In the next moment, many reporters come in the frame from all directions and surround him with questions. This scene looks like a perfume ad where random girls run to a boy as soon as he sprays the perfume. It seems that Aly was a sexual predator and all the girls he wronged blew the whistle on him.

The song is just okay. I’d rather listen to Vishal Mishra’s ‘Sajna Ve’ and ‘Kaise Hua’. For me, the song’s only saving grace was a comment in the comments section- “I dedicate this song to my studies. Tune bada sataya hai mujhe, tu bhi sataya jayega”.
