Seeti Maar: Bollywood's Deteriorating Songs
Seeti Maar is originally a Telugu song, but has found its way to Bollywood. The audience have slammed the new version and Salman Khan received some really bad reviews for his dance moves. The lyrics are also of poor quality like most new hindi party songs.
The song Seeti Maar, from the film Radhe: Your Most Wanted Bhai, featuring Salman Khan and Disha Patani is the remake of the popular Telugu song with the same name. The Telugu version stars Allu Arjun and Pooja Hegde. But, unlike the original version, Salman and Disha fail to stir excitement in the audience with his dance in the new version. Salman Khan is famous for coming up with new signature steps for his songs but this time I really disliked Salman Khan’s dance steps in the video, especially where he covers his face with his t-shirt. The step did not make any sense. Disha Patani did not come out very well in the video either. It seemed as if she was trying to keep up with her steps but was in vain.
Many people thought this song from Radhe was a disgrace to the original version. Allu Arjun had given a great performance in the song but Salman Khan seemed nowhere near that standard. Allu also received appreciation from Salman Khan for his wonderful performance.
What also disturbs me are the lyrics. Bollywood has always been famous for confusing affection with stalking and forcing love on someone. A line of Seeti Maar goes like this- “Pyaar de de, yaa hum tujhse le le”. I find these kinds of lyrics very problematic and it is not the first time we see Bollywood supporting toxic masculinity in this manner. Bollywood really needs to step up and write and create better songs.
Seeti Maar is composed by Devi Sri Prasad and sung by Kamaal Khan and Iulia Vantur. The choreography is done by Jani Master. Devi Sri Prasad had suggested Salman to create a Hindi version of Seeti Maar, but he does not seem to do justice to it.
