Scam 1992: The Harshad Mehta Story has been marked as one of his best directorial ventures, after it claimed to have the highest IMDb rating of any Indian web series. After watching the series, I can say with full confidence that no one other than Pratik Gandhi could have pulled off the character of Harshad Mehta with so much grace and ease. It is always a challenge for actors to play roles in a biopic, but every actor in Scam 1992 provided justice to their characters. The co-stars included Shreya Dhanwanthary, Hemant Kher and Chirag Vohra. Each of them brought life to the series by their splendid performance.

The character of Harshad Mehta was well presented on the screen. The makeup and costume design were well taken care of. The costume designer, Arun J Chauhan was in charge of the costumes of all the characters.

Actors are made to resemble the real person while filming a biopic. Not only in their outlook, but also their body language and the style of speaking is copied. Pratik Gandhi was much appreciated and applauded for his acting in Scam 1992.

The direction was also done in such a manner that all aspects of the scam as well as the personal life of Harshad Mehta were very nicely displayed on screen. Series based on real life events grab a great amount of attention. A lot of fabrication in the biopic makes it look monotonous. In Scam 1992, we see that the incidents were not exaggerated and kept the audience engrossed through the entire series. The series is based on the book, The Scam written by Sucheta Dalal and Debashis Basu. The accuracy with which the story has been extracted from the book is so remarkable! Each and every event is as properly described in the series as it is in the book.

The personality of Harshad Mehta is shown as a humble man initially, but with time, as he achieves success and is showered with money at every step of his life, we see a change in his behavior. His humility eventually fades away and is replaced by overconfidence and arrogance. The change in Pratik Gandhi’s expressions from being a lowly man to a haughty businessman is something to be admired.

Clips of the real Harshad Mehta’s interview and press conferences in a couple of episodes made Scam 1992 even more interesting to watch.
