Netflix announced the release of a new film, Qala in association with Anushka Sharma’s production house, Clean Slate Filmz. The film is directed by Anvita Dutt. Qala is the second Netflix original film of Clean Slate Filmz and Anvita Dutt together. Before Qala, they had created Bulbbul which was highly appreciated. The audiences are expecting the same magic in Qala.

The film stars Tripti Dimri, Swastika Mukherjee and debutant Babil I Khan, the son of late actor Irrfan Khan. As Anvita Dutt describes, Qala is the heartwarming story of a mother-daughter relationship where the girl craves for her mother’s love.

The first look shows some behind the scene footage of Qala. The cast and crew members can be seen on screen. The trailer suggests that the film is shot in a snowy valley. The release date of the film is not yet announced.

After watching Irrfan Khan’s tremendous performances for so many years, I am eagerly waiting to see Babil in his first film. I really hope he brings the same realism in his performance as his father did.

It is great to see the creators of Bulbbul coming up with another film which empowers women. In the present time, films with female protagonists really add up to the charm of Indian cinema. Indian cinema industry is evolving from a sphere of patriarchal ethos to an industry which releases some super meaningful films. Let us see how this evolution is proved right in Qala.
