Mirzapur Season 2 Episode 3 Recap: Viklaang Quota

Let’s explore what Guddu is upto in the third episode of Mirzapur Season 2 on Amazon Prime. Looks like his need for revenge has now got a tactful edge.

Mirzapur Season 2 Episode 3 Recap: Viklaang Quota

This episode has a bombshell reveal at the start. Beena is pregnant.

In Mirzapur, Maqbool goes to his house and questions why his nephew, Babur was late in serving his mother dinner. Babur fears his uncle might soon guess he still works for Guddu. Babur is now walking on very thin ice. On one side is his loyalty to Guddu and on the other, his family’s commitment to serve the Tripathis .

Guddu meets Lala with the help of Dimpy, who is friends with Lala's daughter Shabhnam. Later Dimpy goes to Lucknow for her college admission.

Back at Balia, Lala says he won't help Guddu in his revenge with the Tripathis until he makes profit from it too. He asks Guddu to devise a plan to improve his business, only then he would help him in crafting a plan against The Tripathis. This scene reminds us how important Bablu was for Guddu. Guddu, now for the first time in the chess game of Mirzapur, has to craft a cunning plan himself.

At the mansion, Beena first manipulates Akhandanand into thinking that she's pregnant with his child and later does the same to Babuji, her father in law.

Guddu's father visits the police officer Maurya to see if he can form a case against Munna. Maurya, now bribed by Tripathis, dismisses him. Pandit begins to compile a witness list from the wedding. No one helps him since they all are afraid to go against Kaleen Bhaiya.

Guddu sells his parents' flat in Mirzapur with the help of Robin, a broker he meets at Dimpy’s college. Through this deal he is able to provide Lala with 35 Lakhs rupees. Lala agrees to provide the equal amount of opium for their joint drug operation.

In Mau, Guddu along with Lala, sets up a meeting with all other drug traders in the region. Here Guddu auctions the drugs and asks the dealers to stop doing business with the Tripathis and work directly with their source to make more margins. Lala makes a hefty profit and  is impressed. He further allows Guddu and Golu to stay the night under his protection at Mau.

At night Munna’s men attack Lala’s residence at Mau. Golu senses danger and takes out her gun and shoots at a man in the dark. Then she opens fire at another man who had entered Lala’s room, thus saving Lala’s life. Guddu kills the last assassin as Lala watches him from his balcony.

At Mirzapur, Kaleen Bhaiya and Munna Bhaiya receive the teeth of the man they had sent to kill Lala. Guddu has now given them the proof that he is alive and is now coming for them.

Beena receives the test results of Kaelen Bhaiya and finds out that he is impotent. She now realizes that she is definitely not carrying his child and needs to protect the truth in any way possible.

By the third episode, Mirzapur has lost its earlier charm. The need of Bablu’s intelligence can be felt every moment. Guddu is trying but still is not as shrewd as his brother. Golu has not been of much use other than being sad and revengeful in the background. She is certainly not filling the shoes of her murdered ex-flame, Bablu.

It seems with each episode, Mirzapur is slowly metamorphosing into an age-old bollywood gruesome revenge plotline made with no planning. Earlier you had to stop yourself from finishing each episode and binge watch till you dropped, now finishing each episode seems like a chore.
