Malaysia to Amnesia Movie Review

Malaysia to Amnesia is directed by Radha Mohan and stars Vaibhav Reddy and M. S. Bhaskar in lead roles.

The story revolves around the problems and situations that are created when Arun, the protagonist, creates an elaborate story to hide his extramarital-affair from his family.

The movie was a dull watch with one cliche stacked over another in a painful monotony that stretched over 2 hours. Aside from the main plot twist which came too soon, the movie was predictable and it failed to make me laugh even once.

It was a classic tale of an innocent gullible wife being manipulated along with a ‘Atithi Tum Kab Jaoge’ type side narrative. The people in on the lie play pranks on the prying relative which is neither sensible or funny.

The protagonist and his side-kick are man-childs who take inspiration from Hollywood movies to dupe their family which makes it difficult to root for their plan or enjoy their antics.

To add to the forced comedy, the movie literally has a character who is a self proclaimed joke writer and announces jokes whenever the writer feels like making the scene jovial without actually crafting a scene where the characters say or do something funny.

The amnesia angle got frustrating after an hour and I felt no sympathy for the protagonist who was facing troubles that he had created himself and was doing the bare minimum to fix the situation.

By the time the climax comes, the movie ends without telling the audience about the fate of the characters. The ending was so abrupt that I was convinced that the movie’s conclusion was edited out by mistake.

The only spark of creativity the writer of the story had was while creating the pun in the movie's title, aside from that this was a bland tale of cheating masquerading as comedy.
