Made in Heaven Season 1 Episode 7: A Royal Affair- Recap

The seventh episode of Made in Heaven, A Royal Affair opens after Tara comes home from smashing Faiza’s home in the previous episode. Adil comes to know about it and is upset with Tara. He bashes Tara in the worst way possible. He says class always shows and it definitely cannot be upgraded by marrying someone. That’s really rich coming from a guy who seems to have magically forgiven himself for cheating on his wife. What a tool!

As the episode’s name suggests, the wedding is going to be a royal affair. We meet a journalist Pavleen who has come to attend the wedding and interview Mr. Ranawat about a business merger he is going to sign. Jaspreet has joined Made in Heaven again. Karan meets Meera and she informs him that all the evidence against him has been withdrawn by his landlord and that the police will have to drop all the charges now. She asks him if he still wants to put Mr. Gupta behind the bars. In the previous episode Mr. Gupta came out about his confused sexuality. Karan wants to respect that so he refuses to file any charges against Mr. Gupta and his family.

Tara hires a detective to spy on Adil. The detective informs Tara that five days ago Adil went to Faiza’s home and stayed there for a while. Tara is dejected. Flashback, Natasha and Adil are going to get married soon and Natasha seeks Tara’s help in distributing the wedding cards to the office staff. After Natasha leaves the room, Tara and Adil get intimate. It’s interesting to see that Tara was once the other woman and now is on the other side of the equation.

At the royal wedding of Samar (Dhairya Karwa) and Devyani (Amrita Puri), Kabir asks the groom how he feels about Devyani being a pilot and the only working woman in the Ranawat family. Samar replies that he’s really proud of her. Devyani in return assures him that she’ll always respect and protect their family’s image. The haldi ceremony begins. Karan joins Tara at the ceremony. Harmony is losing out on a lot of wedding contracts to Made in Heaven so one of Harmony’s team members suggests revealing Karan’s arrest under Section 377. However, Shibani isn’t happy to do things this way. Jaspreet is doing her routine work for the wedding when she opens a door and sees the mehendiwali, Pooja, being assaulted by a man. Pooja manages to run away and Jaspreet locks the room and follows her. Jaspreet informs Tara and Karan about the incident. Pooja is scared to reveal the name of the perpetrator so Karan decides to find out who assaulted her. Tara however wants to deal with it differently and instead inform the groom’s family so that they can take a legal action. Tara and Jaspreet head towards the room and are astonished to find Mr. Ranawat coming out of the room.

Pooja is ready to file the complaint but needs to seek her father’s permission before things proceed. Adil meets Faiza at her home and apologizes for Tara's behaviour. Faiza’s parents have told her to either live by their rule or leave. Adil suggests that she should leave her parents’ home and be independent. Adil assures Faiza of financial support. Shibani waits for Tara at her home and informs her about Harmony’s plan ahead of a big wedding for the Yadavs. Adil gifts Tara’s mother an expensive house in South Delhi so Tara’s mother asks her to compromise and instead start planning a baby with Adil.  Back in Made in Heaven’s office Devyani comes to meet Pooja. Tara and Karan join the conversation. Devyani sympathises with Pooja but soon bribes Pooja to shut up and forget about the incident. Devyani had assured Samar of protecting the family’s image and here she is protecting her family’s image from being tainted. Pooja agrees to the deal.

While Karan is angry at Pooja for choosing money over justice, Tara shouts at him for being so inconsiderate. Tara then revisits the choices she’d made in her past. Years ago, when Tara and Adil weren’t married they were caught in a compromising situation on the office’s CCTV. The video is spread across the whole office and Adil’s father tries to compensate Tara’s loss of reputation via a big fat cheque. Tara however chooses to maximise the benefit and turns down the money. She expresses that her feelings for Adil cannot be outweighed by a cheque. Tara was trying to double down the situation by making a step towards marrying Adil. Adil’s father is instantly touched by Tara’s emotions. Years later, Tara is married to a man who’s in love with her best friend. She regrets the way she chose things to be. Yes, karma is a bitch.

The royal wedding has concluded. The Ranawats organise a press conference for their business merger where Pavleen confronts Mr. Ranawat of molesting thw mehendiwali and the rest is left for other media people to deal with. In flashback, Karan is back in school and denies having a relationship with Nawab. Right then, Karan figures out that this is what has been troubling him for so long. After hitting the rock bottom and facing everything from humiliation to jail he isn’t scared of anything. So he decides to put up a fight against Section 377. He meets Meera and tells her that he wants to file a PIL against Section 377.

This episode brings out the contrast between the way Tara and Karan chose to handle their past choices. It is one fascinating episode; you really need to watch it for an adrenaline rush. I love the way the character arcs are growing in multiple ways. In Made in Heaven, protagonists aren’t an effigy of morals but they are like you and me, they make bad choices too. Some choose to repair the damage while some continue to live with those choices. The relatability of Made in Heaven hits home.
