Little Things: Season 3 Episode 8 Recap

The final episode of the season. A lot can happen. We don’t know what the future holds for Dhruv and Kavya.

The morning starts with Dhruv receiving some bad news. His school friend who was never as intelligent as Dhruv, has won a mathematics research grant from a University in Finland.

I know, I know. It’s not really bad news. It’s just something that makes Dhruv jealous. (Cue the “jab dost top karta hai toh zyada dukh hota hai.” dialogue from 3 Idiots.)

After talking to his mother on the phone, who reminds him of the importance of being humble, Dhruv decides to call his friend and congratulate him.

Kavya heads to work and receives good news. Her team is doing extremely well and the Mumbai branch is now the only successful branch of their company. But Kavya has something else going on in her mind.

Watching her parents age was a difficult thing for her to process, when she visited Nagpur recently. She wants to spend more time with her parents, and makes a spur of the moment decision. She wants to be temporarily transferred to the Nagpur branch for six months.

Dhruv, back at home, receives a great opportunity. His friend wants him to work as a research assistant for him.

Great opportunity, but does Dhruv want to work for someone who was once his inferior?

Kavya and Dhruv discuss what life would be like if Kavya leaves. I was worried another fight would ensue. But luckily enough, that didn’t happen. Instead, the two ended up talking about how it’s okay to find one’s “happy place” outside of a relationship.

Kavya found her happy place back in her hometown and Dhruv has a new opportunity to think about.

They talk about whether or not their relationship can survive another six months of distance.

As the season closes, there’s still a lot of uncertainty in the air. “This is not the end right, we’re coming back na?” Kavya asks. And Dhruv just gives her a reassuring smile and nods.

I found this episode to be slightly slow moving. Of course, it was eventful and a lot of things changed over the course of a half an hour. But it still felt like things were moving forward at a slow pace.

This episode deserves a 3/5.

Little Things is now streaming on Netflix.
