The second episode of the season is titled “Today of all days” and I think it’s a fitting name. It follows the journey of Kavya and Dhruv’s first day apart. And let’s just say, things don’t exactly go as expected.

Mrs. Iyer—Dhruv’s new employer—has a reputation for being strict. Kavya on the other hand, has always been someone who loves being consumed by work. 

But what happens is that Kavya ends up missing Dhruv terribly. She calls him early in the morning and helps him calm his nerves about meeting Mrs. Iyer and heads to work.

During the lunch break she calls him again to see how his morning went, and to her surprise, he had a great day! Not only did he love Geeta Iyer ma’am, but also he loved the cactus she got him as a welcome gift.

It almost feels like Kavya was hoping Dhruv would have a bad day, like she didn’t like the fact that he has having a good time without her. Or maybe it’s just that she felt lonely without him, and being jealous of how happy Dhruv is, served as a distraction from her own fears.

Kavya decides to proceed with her day. She plans to go out with her friend for a comedy night at the local club. Her friend eventually backs out and Kavya decides to train the new employee Anmol, to distract herself.

In the end of the day, she’s feeling a little better and goes for the comedy event by herself. That’s when the performer makes a joke about how long distance relationships never last, and Kavya breaks down. Kudos to Mithila Palkar for her acting in that scene. I truly felt Kavya’s pain in that moment.

Dhruv, on the other side of the country, is having a great time. He attends a housewarming party at his new friend’s house. He receives a call from Kavya, who is having a breakdown.

In a rather adorable display of affection, Dhruv immediately asks her “Kavu, mai aau kya wapis?” but Kavya fights her tears and tells him to stay in Bangalore.

Dhruv asks her to go over to the pantry and see if she can spot the gift he left for her. Kavya finds a pack of assorted tea, and with it, a message from Dhruv. He tells him about which flavour she should drink when she misses him, and then mentions that this was the only surprise he had for her.

Kavya needs to be careful before having another breakdown, the sweet gestures won’t be frequent!

I think this episode was quite an emotional ride pretty early in the season. It definitely deserves a 3.5/5.
