Little Things: Season 2 Episode 7 Recap

Little Things takes up the bigger issue.

Little Things: Season 2 Episode 7 Recap

Dhruv and Kavya are at a friend’s wedding. It’s a happy and fulfilling environment, but the two seem distracted for some reason. They see people around them talking about adventures and flings, or their new partners, and for some reason, Dhruv and Kavya feel left out.

Instead of being happy for what they have, they feel like they are missing out on great experiences by spending all their time with each other.

After the cocktail party, the two head back to their room and try to get intimate with each other. But they are soon interrupted by Kavya’s buzzing phone. She asks Dhruv to move away so she can answer her phone and Dhruv gets extremely angry. He feels insulted and humiliated.

Kavya tries to convince him that it's “not a big deal” but he says that when Kavya asked him to move away he felt like Kavya was feeling suffocated around him. As if, he was forcing her to be with him.

Despite Kavya’s reassurance, Dhruv is not convinced. The two get into a huge fight. Perhaps their worst fight so far. At this moment, I was almost convinced that they would part ways for good.

Dhruv talks about how bad he feels when Kavya goes on work trips, spends the day working on extra assignments, or takes hours to respond to his messages. Kavya’s job is coming in the way of their relationship, it seems.

Kavya, on the other hand, argues that it is Dhruv’s lack of ambition that is the real problem. She thinks that he needs to expand his horizons and figure out something he enjoys doing. It’s his boredom that’s creating all these issues. She claims that Dhruv is asking for a lot from Kavya now that he has free time on his hands.

They cannot continue having their argument because it’s time to leave their hotel room and go back for the next ceremony.

During the function, Dhruv and Kavya are uncomfortable around each other. Frankly, their tears are impossible to watch. As someone who has been following their journey for a while now, I was heartbroken by that scene.

Dhruv gets a call from the groom to be, who was badly injured the night before. He requests Dhruv’s help as he cannot dress up by himself. Dhruv leaves and Kavya stands there, sulking by herself.

Up in the green room, Dhruv asks his friend what prompted him to propose to his girlfriend. “How did you know for sure that she was the one?” he asks. “Yeh kya Bollywood film jaisa sawaal hai?” his friend replies.

What is happening? Is Dhruv going to propose marriage to Kavya? What if she’s angry and says no? These were just some of the questions on my mind during all this.

After a long pause, Dhruv’s friend says, “I just knew. It felt right. Plus, a lot of things are easier when you’re married, you know. Like it’s easier to find an apartment...”

While Dhruv finds part of the answer absurd and funny, he understands that a real relationship is one where you feel comfortable doing anything in front of your partner, without the fear of being judged.

He comes back downstairs with a plate full of Biryani and offers it to Kavya. She cannot believe Dhruv went through the trouble of getting her food, even before the caterer has started serving dinner.

Of course their fight isn’t over, but the two share a quiet moment together and have their favourite food, and I am left here wondering what the final episode of this season will contain.

For this emotional rollercoaster, the episode gets a rating of 3/5.

Little Things is now streaming on Netflix.
