Little Things: Season 1 Episode 3 Recap

This episode of Little Things follows late night adventures of Dhruv and Kavya

Little Things: Season 1 Episode 3 Recap

In the third episode of Dice Media’s Little Things, we see Dhruv (Dhruv Sehgal) and Kavya (Mithila Palkar) struggling to fall asleep.

Dhruv and Kavya go to bed after reading a chapter of a book. After a little discussion about the hidden meaning between the verses of the book, the two drift off because Kavya has a busy day ahead.

Later in the night, they are awakened by the mosquitoes hovering around them. The couple eventually get out of bed and decide to take an impromptu trip to the local pharmacy to buy some mosquito repellent.

At the pharmacy, after a heated debate about whether to buy a fire and ice condom or not, the two finally walk out with ice cream, mosquito repellent, and said condom.

On their way home, a random passenger in an auto rickshaw hits Dhruv on the head, which results in him dropping his ice cream on the ground.

Dhruv is clearly angry and offended, but he is relieved to see his childhood friend Karan step out of the auto. He realises that Karan was simply trying to prank him.

After making brief introductions, Karan compares Dhruv and Kavya with Dhanush and Sonam Kapoor from the movie Ranjhanaa in another attempt to tease Dhruv. He implies that Kavya is too pretty and sophisticated to be with him.

Kavya—who had been quietly smiling all this while—decides to prank Karan when he asks if they know of a place where he could find contraceptives. She offers him the ice and fire condom, which was an iffy choice to begin with, and assures him that he will love it.

The couple part ways with Karan and once they’re back at their apartment, Dhruv decides to make some midnight sandwiches for both him and Kavya to enjoy.

Kavya surfs through her social media profile and announces that her ex boyfriend Vivek is getting engaged.

Disappointment and annoyance are the two expressions that can clearly be seen on her face when she says that.

My favourite part of this episode was perhaps the scene that follows next.

On any other show, a scene like this would be used as an opportunity to start a fight between the couple or ignite a sense of jealousy.

But Little Things is different in this regard. Dhruv sits down with Kavya and tells her about the statistical possibility of her ex boyfriends getting married, and Kavya asks him to “stop rationalising everything.”

Dhruv understands that Kavya treasures their relationship and would never do anything to jeopardise that. He knows her feelings about Vivek’s engagement are valid because he was an important part of Kavya’s life at one point.

Kavya’s ability to confide in Dhruv once again reaffirmed my belief that they are unlike any other couple on television. This take on relationships is rare and that’s what makes the show so special.

For its simple yet effective writing, this episode of Little Things gets a rating of 4/5.

Little Things is now streaming on Netflix.
