Little Things: Season 1 Episode 1 Recap

Dice Media’s Little Things revolves around Dhruv and Kavya (portrayed by Dhruv Sehgal and Mithila Palker respectively), a cohabiting couple in their mid 20s.
The episode opens in the middle of an uneventful night. Kavya asks Dhruv to help her pick out the perfect saree for her friend’s wedding, much to Dhruv’s annoyance.
They don’t tell us about their journey so far or the events that transpired and led to their coupling. The viewers don’t know anything about their backstory.
The episode is written in such a way that we simply dive into their lives and live it like our own.
The big problem Dhruv and Kavya face in episode one is FOMO—the fear of missing out.
Seeing their friends having fun on Snapchat causes them to reflect on their own lives.
Kavya is trying her best to change that, while Dhruv believes that they should do what makes them happy regardless of optics.
This is a dilemma we’re all too familiar with. We all live in a world where what we wish to do often doesn’t live upto the expectations of what we are supposed to do.
That’s what kept me interested in the episode.
Dhruv simply wants a quiet Sunday. He wants to watch Liverpool play Chelsea in the evening because the chances of that match falling on a Sunday are infinitesimally low.
But Kavya is adamant on making it a memorable Sunday. She urges Dhruv to come down to the local arcade with her so that they can have a friendly competition.
When all fails and they’re denied entry in the arcade because of Dhruv’s inappropriate t-shirt, they end up at Kavya’s hair salon.
At the end of the day, neither of them get to do what they wanted but Kavya has stopped obsessing over having a picture perfect weekend and the couple decides to share a pizza
and watch a movie at home.
The comfort they get out of living a simple, predictable, and lazy Sunday is something any layperson would be familiar with.
It is right in that moment that I fell in love with the concept of this show, and the anticipation to see what they will do next grew stronger.
The premiere episode gets a rating of 4/5 for its simplicity and impactful moments.

Little Things Season 1 is now streaming on Youtube. Season 2 can be found on Netflix.
