Little Things Season 3 Episode 4 Recap
Little Things takes a trip down memory lane.
The fourth episode of this season is titled “Senior Citizens” because they are the central characters in this one. Dhruv and Kavya are in their respective hometowns and Kavya is excited to attend her dad’s retirement party. She dresses up beautifully and feels like a proud daughter of hard working parents.
Before heading out to the party, Kavya goes over to her neighbour’s house and says hello to her first crush—Kaaju, the adorable dog.
After taking several adorable pictures of Kaaju, she heads out for the party with her parents. At the office, everyone shares their thoughts about the “best manager they’ve ever worked with.” Everyone is humbled by the beautiful speech Kavya’s dad makes and with misty eyes, people start to bid him adieu. That’s when an employee at the bank introduces his younger brother to Kavya and insists that they “get to know each other.”
Kavya calls Dhruv after that and tells him she’s getting marriage proposals just to tease him and he laughs it out. He congratulates Kavya on her dad’s retirement and then hangs up the phone.
This episode is really mostly about Kavya’s life in Nagpur. We get to see very little of Dhruv and Kavya’s relationship. But we get to see a lot of elements from Kavya’s past. I think it’s a beautiful insight into what shaped her thoughts and opinions.
Later at home, Kavya talks to her mother about the conversation she was having with her friend in the morning. She talks about her friend who got married at a young age and tells her mother that life is sad for people like that. Her mother is quick to correct her. Mrs. Kulkarni tells her about the “idea of happiness” and how it varies for different people.
Kavya thinks about that for a while and calls Dhruv again right before bed. He interrupts her in the middle of her sentence and tells her that he’s having a rough day and doesn’t want to be “disturbed” any further. Kavya goes to bed disappointed and the episode ends on that note.
This beautiful episode that ended with an abrupt end heartbreaking moment gets a rating of 3.5/5.
Little Things is now streaming on Netflix.
