The second episode of Kota Factory begins with Vaibhav getting a call from his mother asking about his well being. He curtly dismisses her.
Next morning, Vaibhav wakes up tired because he hasn’t slept well and gets constipated also. Jeetu catches him yawning in his class and scolds him. Vaibhav grows increasingly frustrated with everything around him. He expresses his contempt for the mess food and water to his friends, Meena and Uday.
Later, Vaibhav screams at Meena when he recommends an institute counsellor for Vaibhav’s restlessness. Meena takes Vaibhav to Shivani, Uday’s girlfriend, who is studying medicine, for a diagnosis on the state of his health and then to a wall scribbled with motivations and hopes of IIT aspirants. When nothing works Uday finds the address of Piyush, a student of Maheshwari classes to counsel Vaibhav on how to handle the pressure of Kota and studies.
Turns out Piyush himself can’t handle the academic pressure and starts crying on Vaibhav’s shoulder. He further tells Vaibhav that he has left Maheshwari classes because he scored the least marks in his batch, and later scored the least again in re-shuffling batch. Now he was relying on individual coaching. Piyush further tells the gang that he has gotten more nervous and anxious because his father has told their whole hometown about him getting admitted in Maheshwari classes and that he is going to clear IIT.
Vaibhav asks him if his parents knew about his situation, but Piyush says that he hasn’t told them because he is afraid of their wrath.
Next day, Vaibhav tries to concentrate in the doubt class with Jeetu. He tries to leave the class early since he hadn’t finished the question sheet that was required for this class. Jeetu asks him the reason for his laxity and learns about all the problems that Vaibhav has been facing. Like getting accustomed to living in Kota and his inability to concentrate for long periods of time. Jeetu tells him that the only way to solve his problems is to deal with them and to stop complaining. Jeetu’s advice is to treat all problems like dares. Since dares are directly connected to ego, this might fire up Vaibhav to push himself more productively.
Vaibhav gets motivated from his speech. He starts eating the horrible mess food without protest and even drinks the salty water of his PG. His focus comes back and he becomes dedicated. All this has a positive impact on his health as well. In the call with his mother he tells her that his appetite is back and he is in good spirits now.
Later, Jeetu tells him that sometimes he can cheat on his routine too as long as it doesn’t become a habit. This tells the audience about the chill nature of the teacher and how he is not entirely governed by rules.
The episode again has an amazing storyline and direction and has not regressed from the quality of the first episode. It tells us about the importance of supportive friends and teachers. It also gives us a glimpse of the dramatic nature of Jettu sir and how he conducts classes. He acts as if he is starring in a play and even quotes Shakespeare at one point.
Moral of this episode would be that one should work towards dealing with problems rather than losing hope.
