Indian Matchmaking: What your favourite contestant says about you
A fun character breakdown!
Now that everyone has watched Indian Matchmaking and found the character they most relate with, I think it’s time to talk about what might be wrong with you if you identify with a certain person.
Sima Aunty: If you relate with Sima Taparia from Mumbai, you are most likely to be the centre of attraction in your group. You love travelling, meeting new people, trying different food items, and telling people off when they’re being difficult or refuse to compromise.
Gita Aunty: You are the rival gang’s leader. You are the centre of attraction in a slightly less popular group and even though you have a great life, you sometimes wonder what it must be like to hang out with the slightly cooler kids. If this is you, I say, don’t feel self-conscious boo, just compromise and settle for what you have!
Aparna: You are the know it all (and you know it). Being from a humble background, you’ve built yourself up from the ground. But the societal pressure has taken such a toll on you that annoying others has become your favourite form of resistance. It’s okay, but please don’t give up on happiness (or comedy).
Pradyuman: You have the soul of an explorer and enjoy indulging in various art forms. But your family is probably well to do, which makes you feel like an imposter. After all, what good is an artist who didn’t struggle? It’s that insecurity that confuses you and makes you second guess (or 150+ guess) you everything in life.
Nadia: You are the diva of your group. Humble, talented, and beautiful - all these adjectives fit you well. But people around you refuse to believe that a person can be so well-rounded and that’s why they drag you down until you start questioning your worth. Don’t settle!
Vyasar: The classic nerd. Bollywood level of romanticism and optimism, mixed with a whole lot of pop-culture trivia has made you hopeless. But because you believe in yourself and continue to work hard, things will probably just turn out fine for you.
Akshay: Typical mama’s boy. You were an underdog growing up. Despite your books smarts, you had a hard time finding your footing and so you need an ACTUAL adult to make decisions for you. I say break the pattern. Start small, do something for yourself every once in a while.
Ankita: You are your own hero. You have figured things out for yourself throughout your life, and you only keep those around who are good for you and support you when the going gets tough. You’ll figure it all out when the stars are aligned.
Not sure which character describes you the most? That’s probably for the best, you’re the one who thinks outside the box!
