Haseen Dillruba is a mystery thriller film starring Taapsee Pannu, Vikrant Massey, and Harshvardhan Rane. The film is written by Kanika Dhillon, the writer of the critically acclaimed Manmarziya, directed by Vinil Mathew and produced under the Banner of T-Series and Colour Yellow Productions.

The trailer opens with an admiration for the Hindi novelist Dinesh Pandit’s books. The protagonist of the movie, Taapsee Pannu’s Rani is a fan of his spine-chilling murder mysteries.  She is married to Vikrant Massey’s Rishu who fell in love with her the first time he saw her and even got her name tattooed on his arm. It is when her husband dies in a blast, her world goes upside down. Rani is the prime suspect for the death of Rishu. 

As the investigation continues, we see multiple layers of Rani unfold. She is a feisty woman. She has an affair with a rafting coach. We see glimpses of Rishu being distressed and confronting Rani about his angst suggesting that he knows about Rani’s affair. Perhaps, Rani is the killer but given that this is a mystery, most likely things will not be what they seem. 

Haseen Dillruba looks like an engaging story of love, lust and deceit. Taapsee Pannu is a strong performer. I expect the film to be an interesting watch and prove worthy of the cast it has. Taapsee’s recent film choices have been fantastic and I hope Haseen Dillruba delivers well too.
