Grahan Season 1 Episode 6 Recap: Ardh Satya

The sixth episode of Grahan opens at Sanjay Singh’s home. He, along with his wife, bash Kedaar. Sanjay asks one of his men to find out about Sitaram Agarwal who lived in the same neighbourhood of Bokaro as Saini and Chabbra. Agarwal is Jhandu’s father. Sanjay learns that Agarwal now lives with his daughter.

The police face the brunt after Guru’s death in their custody. The local police make it a case of suicide and the general emotion of the media and the public is against the SIT team for keeping an innocent Bokaro man in their custody. Elsewhere, Vikas gets Gautam Patidar’s address.

Kedaar rebukes Amrita for losing a lead as important as Guru.

Amrita calls Kartik in Canada for some help. This has probably got something to do with Amrita.

In the previous episode of Grahan, Vikas sees Amrita’s childhood photos with Rishi. On his way to Gautam Patidar’s residence, Vikas thinks about all the times when Amrita refrained from bringing up Rishi or his photo as a rioter.

Vikas reaches Gautam Patidar’s home. Patidar was the police officer in charge during the 1984 Bokaro riots. He let the riots happen because he had orders from a higher authority to not take any action. A ‘white Ambassador’ carried all the men and materials for the riots and Patidar allowed it to pass through the streets of Bokaro. Vikas learns that the ASI who was trying to help the Sikhs was Suresh Jaiswal. Journalist Santosh Jaiswal is Suresh Jaiswal’s son. Santosh recently visited Patidar to learn about the Bokaro riots for a report he was working on. Patidar accepts his mistake and says that he is ready to cooperate with all the police procedures.

Vikas is back at the accommodation. He says to Amrita that he can’t share any more information with her because he knows that Rishi Ranjan is her father.

In Canada, Kartik visits Sandhus’ villa and poses as a filmmaker from Patna. This is Manu’s home. She is a housewife. Kartik asks her some questions about her past and specifically about the Bokaro riots. She is uncomfortable and doesn’t answer. Kartik directly takes Rishi Ranjan’s name which makes her tense and she asks Kartik to leave. In her room, Manu opens a box of Rishi’s memories which has the notebook which Rishi used to tutor Manu and also the money note with his name written on it.

On the day of the Chhath Puja in 1984, Manu and Rishi prepare to leave Bokaro with the help of Pragya and Jhandu. However, Manu realises at the last moment that her father is already very distressed with the rising communal tension around them. Rishi also realises this and they decide to follow the right path and marry only with Mr. Chabbra’s blessings.

In the present day, Sanjay asks one of his men to find out what happened to Chabbra’s family after the riots. Sanjay reaches Agarwal’s residence. He learns that Agarwal’s son, Jhandu, was left dead in the riots. Jhandu’s body was found on the terrace of Chabbra’s burning house.

Next, Sanjay visits Gursevak’s home and suggests that Gursevak take all the blame of the Bokaro riots on himself so that Gursevak’s secret stays safe. But what is the secret?

Gursevak calls Amrita in Bokaro and confesses that he is indeed the Rishi Ranjan who took part in the riots, burned houses and hurt people. He is proud of Amrita for choosing to stick by the path of truth. Now, he will do what he deems right.

In the next scene, we see Gursevak being arrested by the police. He confesses and takes all the blame of the Bokaro riots on himself.

Amrita sees this in the news and is shocked. Pragya and Manu also watch this news in their respective locations. The fact that Gursevak is the SIT incharge Amrita’s father is also out in the open. This raises a lot of questions on Amrita’s integrity in the case.

With the confession of Gursevak, the show and the case take a new turn. Where will this lead in the next episode of Grahan?
