Amrita and Vikas reach Bokaro police station and look at the records of 1984. A new female officer, Sandhya, is being harassed by some senior male officers. Amrita sees this and rescues Sandhya. She makes Sandhya a part of their investigation. The team proceeds to the address of the riot victim, Satnam Saini. He is the same Mr. Saini who defended Punjab in front of Chunnu in the previous episode of Grahan.
Satnam Saini has opened a school where needy children are given education for free. Amrita and the team try talking to Satnam about the riots but he is irritated and doesn’t want to revisit those memories.
Meanwhile, Sanjay Singh a.k.a. Chunnu, visits Gursevak’s home. Sanjay asks about his Sikh appearance to which Gursevak says that he did what he felt was right. We learn that Rishi (Gursevak) married Pragya who is long dead. Then, they talk about Rishi’s friend, Jhandu – the one who made a move on Manu. Sanjay threatens Gursevak to do something about the ongoing Bokaro riots investigation since his daughter is the investigating officer.
In 1984, Manu’s father, Kawaljeet, reads the news about the killings in Punjab and is distressed. Rishi tries to assure him that everything will be fine.
In the present, Amrita and the team reach Rimjhim Steel Factory. They check the records of Sanjay’s entry on the day of the riots. The person in charge of the factory tells them that this town supports Sanjay because he has done a lot for the people living here. The residents won’t give any statement against their ‘Chunnu bhaiya’. The incharge then gives them a hint about a transaction wherein a huge amount of money was withdrawn and distributed among the public by Chunnu.
Sanjay gives a political speech and uses the death of journalist Santosh Jaiswal to his advantage. Sanjay’s wife, Pushpa, brings Santosh’s wife, Vani to the stage. Pushpa will sit on a strike with Vani till justice is delivered to Santosh.
Kedaar regrets supporting Chunnu and his political career in the past. He rebukes the DIG to take the matter of Santosh’s death into his hands.

In 1984, Kawaljeet stops Manu’s tuition classes. Rishi is confused. He learns that Kawaljeet is distressed because of the rising communal violence in Punjab and he is also facing a cash crunch.
Kawaljeet Chabbra asks for a loan from Agarwal but in vain. Agarwal and Saini have a beef with each other due to business-related issues. In their fight, Agarwal calls Sikhs “Gaddaar”.
In the present, Saini is ready to speak to Amrita and the team about his plight in the 1984 Bokaro riots. He recalls that the situation in Punjab in 1984 affected the plight of Sikhs in Bokaro. People like Chunnu took advantage of this and incited mobs to riot. Saini was about to pack and leave his home with his family. He quickly went to take money from his shop. While he was in his shop, the rioters started marching towards the neighbourhood. Jhandu and Rishi also came into Saini’s shop but he quietly hid. After all the turmoil when Saini stepped out of his shop, he saw nothing but dead bodies lying on the ground, brutally cut and injured. He reached home only to find his wife and daughter murdered. Saini narrates this whole scene and breaks down at the end. Vikas wants to show Saini the photo of the rioter (Rishi) but Amrita smartly convinces him against it so that the truth about her father is not out in the open.
The police go back to their accommodation. Amrita sleeps while her father sings her a lullaby on the phone.
A mysterious woman comes to meet Amrita. Amrita sees her and breaks down in shock. She calls the woman “Ma”.
This episode of Grahan is engaging and brings us closer to the events that transpired on the day of the bloody riots in Bokaro. In the next episode, I hope we learn more about Amrita’s mother.
