Grahan Season 1 Episode 2 Recap: Yunhi Prem Ayega

In the second episode of Hotstar Specials’ Grahan, Amrita wakes up from a dream about her father as a rioter in the Bokaro riots. Her father comes into her room but she ignores him and goes into the washroom. She is in a state of confusion and shock after what she learned in the previous episode of Grahan.

Amrita rummages through drawers and cupboards for her father’s old pictures and documents. Amrita shows her father his picture that she received the other day. He freezes with shock and leaves the house.

After her father doesn’t return for a long time, Amrita sets out to look for him. She finally finds him sitting in shock under a tree. She brings him home and asks him questions about his role in the Bokaro riots in 1984. However, he tells her to not ask him about this matter again because he won’t be able to answer her questions.

Back in 1984, we’re shown Rishi and Manu’s first meeting. Rishi is looking for a place to stay when his friend spots Mr. Chabbra trying to fix his broken car. Rishi fixes his car and makes his way into Mr. Chabbra’s good books and eventually gains a place to stay at his home. Mr. Chabbra’s daughter is Manu. Rishi is attracted to her at the first sight. He learns that Manu’s marriage has already been fixed with a boy. Staying on the upper floor of the same house, Rishi starts running various errands for the Chabbra family and also runs into Manu multiple times a day. He is awkward in front of her. Once, Manu asks Rishi for rent. He writes his name on one of the notes and gives it to her. This is his way of flirting with her.

In the present in 2016, Vani, Santosh’s wife calls Amrita and tells her that some goons have entered Vani’s house and are searching for something. Amrita reaches there and sees the house in an untidy condition. Sanjay Singh’s wife, Pushpa, is also present there. Amrita tries to ask Vani if she wants to tell her something but Vani seems to be threatened by Pushpa. A police officer comes in saying that Santosh’s case has been transferred to him. He says Santosh’s cause of death was suicide but Amrita protests since she was present when Santosh was set on fire. However, the police officer and Pushpa don’t listen to her and proceed to take Vani to the police station for the identification of Santosh’s body. Amrita is left disappointed.

Amrita complains to the DIG about the other police officer making a fake case for Santosh’s death. The DIG says that since Amrita has resigned, the case has been transferred. The DIG tells Amrita to make up her mind about staying or leaving.

At home, Amrita’s father opens an old box of memories which has Manu’s love letters, photos and handkerchiefs with “R” stitched on them.

In 1984, Manu is travelling by a rickshaw when she bumps into Rishi who is on his bike. They are stuck in a traffic jam. Manu challenges Rishi to clear the jam and he boldly accepts it. He manages to clear the traffic, Manu is impressed and she flirts with him.

The water supply on Manu’s floor stops so she decides to quickly bathe upstairs in Rishi’s bathroom because he is not at home. She finds alcohol in Rishi’s shampoo bottle. She is amused by this. Rishi returns home and an awkward encounter between the two follows. Manu sweetly blackmails him to tutor her or else she will tell her father about the alcohol.

In the next scene, Manu is outside a cinema hall with her friend. She tries to get tickets for a movie but the place is too crowded. Rishi is also present there with his friend. Rishi and his friend act like they are some big shots and get their movie tickets. Manu spots him and buys the movie tickets from him. Manu’s name is written on one of the notes that she gives him. Rishi is smitten. Inside the cinema hall, Manu feels Rishi’s gaze on her.

In the present, Amrita’s father burns all memories of Manu.
