Four More Shots Please!: Season 1 Episode 4 Recap - Ex Why Zzz

The show finally confronts the characters' emotions and insecurities with this episode.

Four More Shots Please!: Season 1 Episode 4 Recap - Ex Why Zzz

Anjana is busy having a fun interaction with Ms VeeVee when Anjana's mother visits her. Arya is excited to see her granny. While the three ladies talk to each other, Arya spills the beans about Varun's special friend Kavya. Auntyji isn't reacting to this in a very positive way, instead, she goes on to blame Anjana for the divorce and all that has followed.

Damini is having a tough time working with Akanksha. While Akanksha wants to put up stories of who's pregnant who's not, Damini is not on board. She believes that working on gossip would be a waste of time for her team of investigative journalists. But Akanksha is not ready to compromise. Akanksha asks Damini to wake up and smell the coffee. Gossip sells.

Meanwhile, Umang can be seen training Samara in T.U.L. - The Umang Ludhiyanvi Style. For which, with every lift up, there's a massive motivation: a Punjabi cuss word. Savage. So the training session looks like two high school Punjabi kids revising their 'gaali' vocabulary.

"Teri maa di bhen teri maasi"
*Samara repeats and lifts*
"Tatte choos"
*Samara repeats and lifts*
"Bebe di fuddi"
*Samara repeats and lifts*

Watching Samara struggle with the Punjabi accent is refreshing.

Mohit visits Siddhi at her place. They discuss the striptease website he had asked her to check out. Siddhi acts all 'sati savitri' at first but the two hit it off really well over the topic. Mohit has become one of her closest friends. The kind you say “I love you” too when you leave, out of platonic affection.

Sneha oversees Siddhi saying this to Mohit when he’s leaving. Sneha doesn't yet know about Mohit's sexuality. Uh oh! I can sense this will lead to trouble. Siddhi doesn't clarify the situation, leaving her mother with her fantasies of a #SiMo #MoSi wedding. Mohit has to find his own way to share his secret with others.

Later at the bar, Damini stays back, as usual, to spend time with Jeh while the other three ladies take off. We see Umang setting up Anjana's profile for an online dating app. This is one of her attempts to allow Ms VeeVee to have some fun.

Back at the bar, Damini and Jeh talk about random topics over a glass of whiskey. Turns out, Damini hasn't named the dog yet. She calls him "kutta". I'm imagining her calling out to the dog saying, "Aye kutte idhar aa". Jeh suggests a name for her 'kutta': Xerxes.

The next day, Umang and Samara land in an awkward situation when Samara accidentally leans in and kisses Umang. Samara immediately backs off and apologizes. Not knowing what to do, they brush it under the carpet and Umang leaves. But then she turns around. She returns Samara's gesture with a more passionate kiss. It’s interesting to see a lesbian relationship normalised on Indian TV. It’s part of a larger story. Not the main, “scandalous” hook.

On a Saturday, while Anjana is busy preparing for Arya's birthday party she gets a call from work. Leaving the party balloons and all of the preparations behind, Anjana rushes out. She reaches home quite late and is surprised to see the decorations up. But her happiness turns into jealousy when she finds out that Kavya is the one who decorated the house for the party.

Anjana's insecurity is blooming with every action of niceness from Kavya. She feels that Kavya is trying to steal Arya from her. But that's not the case. Kavya is just her ex's girlfriend who's trying to work things out between them.

An argument between Anjana and Varun triggers her to finally move on from their failed marriage. In a bid to prove to her ex that she is as much capable of moving on as him, Anjana right swipes every guy she comes across on the app.

The episode ends with the girls hanging around Anjana's place late at night, getting drunk and laughing at their miseries. This time, the story embraced the characters' emotions instead of dodging every problem with four shots.

Episode Rating: 3/5
