The trailer of Dhoop Ki Deewar, featuring Sajal Aly (known for her performance in the Sridevi starrer Mom), as Sara from Pakistan and Ahad Raza Mir as Vishal from India, portrays a story of two families grieving the loss of their loved ones due to the conflict between their nations.

The trailer begins with a face-off between the two countries’ army, leading to the death of both Sara and Vishal’s fathers. The two speak to the media about losing their fathers. Both are bound to speak on behalf of their countries, but the media men leave no stone unturned to pit the two against each other. The families label each other as enemies. However, an online chat between Sara and Vishal changes their perspective. The two feel empathy for each other’s loss and understand that their grief is the same. They start engaging in conversation on a regular basis with increasing admiration for each other. Their families, however, do not approve of this cross-border love story. 

The show is directed by Haseeb Haasan and written by Umera Ahmad, also the writer of the Pakistani classic, Zindagi Gulzar Hai. The writer said, “No matter which country, religion or belief you belong to at the end of the day the grief lived is the same everywhere and it is much bigger than you and me. It is a story of love, grief and loss that people across borders and overseas can relate to on a human level”.

Apart from Sajal Aly and Ahad Raza Mir, the series will star Samiya Mumtaz, Zaib Rehman, Savera Nadeem, Samina Ahmed, Manzar Sehbai, Raza Talish, Aly Khan and Adnan Jaffar.

Dhoop Ki Deewar is scheduled to stream on ZEE5 India from June 25 onwards.
