Bandish Bandits Trailer: Amazon Prime Original series makes a bad first impression
Bandish Bandits is a musical drama series set to release on Amazon Prime Video.
Bandish Bandits is an upcoming Amazon Prime Original Series starring Naseeruddin Shah, Ritwik Bhowmik and Shreya Chaudhry in the lead roles.
Naseeruddin Shah is a classical musician and Ritwik Bhowmik is his dedicated, disciplined apprentice. Shreya Chaudhry is a pop musician with a fulfilling career ahead of her.
The trailer follows the journey of Radhe (Ritwik Bhowmik) and Tamanna (Shreya Chaudhry) as their worlds collide and the two form an unlikely pair that results in good music and a messy relationship.
The series will follow the leads as they deal with familial traditions and the unfair demands of the singing industry, while trying to forge their own path.
Based on the trailer, the two leads don’t come across convincingly. Shreya Chaudhry's dialogue delivery faulters when she talks about her future aspirations with Ritwik Bhowmik. As a result, the chemistry between Radhe and Tamanna doesn’t look like it can sustain an entire season of drama.
Naseeruddin Shah plays the self righteous patriarch, and while it seems intriguing at first, the character appears to be an all too familiar Bollywood stereotype when he says, “Pashchatap galti ke liye hota hai, dhokebazi ke liye nahi.”
With the standard that Amazon Prime has set for OTT content with shows like Breathe: Into The Shadows, Panchayat, and Paatal Lok, the expectations from all original content are higher, and the success of this show relies on how Amazon’s marketing front puts a spin on this flat first impression.
Bandish Bandits will premiere on Amazon Prime Video on 4th August 2020—which happens to be Naseeruddin Shah’s 70th birthday.
