Aarya Season 1 Episode 5 Recap

Aarya Season 1 Episode 5 Recap

Shekhawat’s men, now aggravated by Aarya’s attempt to outsmart them, once again visit Jawahar. Upon finding out that he really does not have a lot of money to his name, they take away his wife’s valuable paintings.

Aarya wakes up and finds Adi’s puppy dead inside the house. Fed up, she confronts Jawahar and asks him if Tej owed Shekhawat 2 crore rupees. Jawahar maintains that he doesn’t know anything about it and claims his house was broken into by robbers.

Interesting developments so far, even though the game of cat and mouse is getting a little repetitive, it’s good to see that the writers have included new plot points in this episode.

Back at the Sareen house, Veer is alone with Pallavi who offers him a pill and he takes it. However, Pallavi ends up swallowing two pills which results in an overdose.

Aarya, unaware of this development, visits Shekhawat who assures her that the 2 crore rupees were not demanded by his men. He wants the full amount, 300 crore, and would never give in to cheap tactics like intimidation or killing of dogs.

Aarya finds out about Pallavi’s overdose and that she has recovered. She is not happy about Veer’s indulgence in drugs, but he assures her that it will not be repeated.

The investigation has taken a toll on Khan’s personal relationships. He ignores his mother's phone calls and fails to devote time to his boyfriend. He raids Aarya’s house one more time, fails, and vents to his boyfriend. Aarya drops Adi to his therapist’s office. His therapist is helping him recover from the two violent deaths he has seen over the past few weeks.

The episode moves slowly. Some quick editing would’ve helped the pace and enhanced viewer experience.

Shekhawat finds the man who was threatening Aarya at the temple and tells her that he doesn't work for Shekhawat. It was someone else who tried to fool Aarya. Shekhawat clsims that by finding the man, he has proven his worth as a person and now Aarya must do him a favour in return.

Aarya rushes home and finds the entire family waiting for her there to celebrate her birthday. Slightly distasteful and cruel if you ask me, why would you ambush someone who is dealing with a personal loss?

But anyway, the party gives Aarya a chance to be around her loved ones and it makes her realise that in order to protect them, she must follow Shekhawat’s instructions. Aru continues to interact with Bob about his music. Again, the setting feels creepy but it’s mostly subtext. The writers are probably trying to highlight a future threat here.

All in all, episode 5 is full of developments but lacks excitement and for that, it gets a 2.5/5.
