Nawab Sahib visits Firoz in the hospital. Firoz is unconscious. The doctor says to the Nawab that he has a good chance of survival. But, when he was conscious, Firoz looked very concerned about his sister. This worries the Nawab. He fears that Firoz might get to know about his relationship with Saeeda and Tasneem and cries with guilt beside Firoz.

Lata chats with her professor who asks her to be a candidate in the next student union election. But, Lata is not interested in elections. When the professor asks what Lata dreams to become, Lata answers that she wants to be a teacher in a school. Though, her mother just wants Lata to be married. To this, the professor suggests to Lata to find a boy who gives her space to grow. This makes Lata miss Haresh. She writes him a letter and invites him to meet her family if he is still in Calcutta.

Pran gets to know about Maan’s arrest in Banaras. He is furious and anxiously packs his bags to go to Brahmpur.

Mahesh goes to meet Maan in the jail. Maan impatiently asks how Firoz is. Mahesh replies that Nawab Sahib has cut all connections between the two families. Maan is unable to control his tears. Mahesh hugs him tightly.

Mahesh decides to fight the election this time. His wife disagrees, saying that their child is in jail and needs them. But, Mahesh is not ready to listen and drives to Rudhia.

Waris Khan is seen campaigning for Nawab Sahib. He provokes the villagers against Mahesh, Nawab’s opponent. He lets Mahesh down saying that he is the father of a murderer, a boy who tried to kill the Nawab’s son.

Maan’s mother and Pran have come to meet Maan. Maan requests Pran to bring Saeeda to her. He wants to see her just once. But, since she is a material witness, Pran does not want him to meet her. Maan eagerly wants to apologize to Saeeda for what he did. Pran is angry at him and says that it’s better for him to forget her.

Rasheed has also stood in the election as a part of Socialist Party. He distributes pamphlets to everyone in Rudhia but looking at his horrible condition, the villagers call him a madman.

Mahesh’s wife is not well. She suffers a heart attack and dies in the arms of her beloved son, Pran. Everyone gathers to pay tribute to her, but Maan is denied permission to come. Mahesh tries to contact his fellow powerful politicians to help him out in this, but people refuse to help him.

Amit visits Lata’s college in Brahmpur as a guest of honour. While he recites his poems, all his intentions are directed at Lata. Kabir notices this and madly interrogates Lata. She requests him to let go of her.

At night, Amit has dinner with Lata’s family. Pran looks quite upset, so Amit and Lata leave the table to give him some space. When Lata helps Amit with the wine, Amit proposes marriage to her. Lata is shocked for a moment and says that she is confused right now. She is unable to take his words seriously which upsets him.

Waris spreads a false rumour about Firoz being dead. He blames it on Maan and uses this to gain votes. Firoz is well now and learns about Waris’s notorious activities. Nawab Sahib and Firoz look at the posters distributed by Waris and feel guilty about cutting off relations with their dearest friend, Mahesh and his family.

Rasheed writes a letter to Tasneem. In it, he writes that his family and friends had already abandoned him. He was only left with her company, but destiny did not want them together. Rasheed finally commits suicide.

Lata comes to meet Maan in the jail. They ask about each other’s well being. Lata tells him how her life has started revolving around the three men who want to marry her. She cannot make up her mind and asks Maan for a solution. Maan says to her that her mother wants the best for her, just like his father wants the best for him. Lata’s mother wants her to marry Haresh. Lata decides to give up on Kabir. He is all about his own dreams and Lata feels that she becomes utterly useless when she is around him.

Mahesh loses the election to Waris Khan. The humiliating part for Mahesh is that he is the only representative of Congress Party who has lost the election. He visits Maan to give him this news. Maan convinces him that things will be alright with time. Mahesh sobs and tells Maan that he might be in prison for the rest of his life. Maan agrees that he deserves no less.

Maan is in the court for his hearing. A twist happens in this moment that no one was expecting. Firoz, being a loyal friend, says in the court that he was not stabbed but mistakenly stumbled upon a fruit knife that Maan was holding. He takes everyone by surprise. When Saeeda Bai is called in the witness box, she also calls it an unfortunate accident. No case is made against Maan and he is released from jail.

Saeeda’s maid, Bibbo asks her if Maan will ever visit her again. Saeeda Bai replies that the songs of love have ended. He might never visit her again.

Haresh pays a surprise visit to Lata’s place. When he meets her, both of them apologize for their behaviour the last time they met. He tells her that her brother cleared it for him that Lata does not return his feelings for him. So, he is not here to pester her. He says this and bids her a final goodbye.

Lata has a private word with Arun. She asks him if he steered Haresh against her. Arun agrees to this saying that he is not suitable for their family’s high standards. The more he criticizes Haresh, the more she realizes her fault. She runs to the railway station to find Haresh before he leaves Brahmpur. She finds him and asks him to marry her. Haresh is left with no words but only joy. He leaves in the train and assures to write to her.

Lata’s mother is engaged in the wedding preparations. Finally, her dream to get Lata married to a suitable boy has come true. When Lata’s mother goes to a jeweller’s shop, she learns that her daughter-in-law, Meenakshi gave him Mrs. Mehra’s husband’s medals to melt in order to get earrings for herself. The jeweller returns the medals to Mrs. Mehra as a gift.

Lata and Haresh get married in Lata’s house. Everyone has a gala time. But, Kabir crosses her house and notices the wedding celebration. I feel bad for him. He is a nice boy and I believe that he deserves to be happy.

Lata leaves with Haresh for Praha. Her family comes to bid her adieu. In the train, Lata and Haresh kiss each other for the first time. Haresh goes to sleep after a while, and Lata looks at the innocence that reflects on his face.

The series ends here. I really wish it didn’t. No doubt that Mira Nair never loses her sparkle in making any film. A Suitable Boy left me with mixed emotions. Someone finally found happiness, while someone is still searching for light. This series has become one of my favourite Indian series and I would recommend it to everyone.
